Navratri Celebrations in Andhra become yet another religious conversion event

Andhra Pradesh government’s minority appeasement politics has met a new low. From organising separate events for converting people into Christianity, they have now started to specifically target Hindu festivals to orchestrate their conversion agendas.

Private channel insults Hindus

In an open insult to the devotees of Maa Durga, a Navratri celebration event at Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh was turned into a propaganda event by a Christian conversion gang. A private television channel was given the responsibility of broadcasting the Navratri celebration being organised at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvala Devastanam. The channel had arranged LED TVs to especially telecast Dasara Utsavams in the Indrakeeladri and other places in the areas in close quarters with the Mandir.

Things started to flare up when the channel suddenly started to play the activities related to Christianity on the LED screens. The devotees, unhappy with the propaganda, started to hurl stones at the LED screens located near the model guest house on the banks of Krishna River. Other devotees entered into a verbal argument with the organisers over the imposition of Christianity propaganda. Soon, the organisers tried to stifle the voice of dissent and called the state police to save their faces. The police reached the spot and stopped the telecast of the Christian events.

Complaint filed by the Mandir officers

One Town CI P. Venkateswarlu informed that the Mandir executive officer had lodged a complaint against C-Channel, Keerthi Creations, and other organisations. Updating about the investigation, he said-“We are in the process of identifying the CCTV footage and a detailed investigation is on. However, no arrests have been made so far”.

BJP criticises the Reddy government

Meanwhile, BJP has launched a scathing attack on Jagan Mohan Reddy for ignoring the needs of the Hindus. Lanka Dinakar of the BJP accused the Reddy government of pushing people towards Christianity. In a statement to ANI, he said, “Andhra Pradesh government led by YS Jaganmohan Reddy going for religious conversions. They are creating opportunities and pushing people towards Christianity. This government is creating propaganda regarding such matters. The devotees have displayed their displeasure (for the temple wall). The person behind this should be punished or we make a big movement to fight against Jagan Mohan Reddy for taking a wrongful approach against the Hindu religion,”.

Shedding further light on the rise of Christian conversion, he added-“the negligence of the state government towards Hindu sentiments is quite evident. Religious conversions are openly happening by posting Christian pasters near Hindu temples. We strongly condemn such kind of encouragement by the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP Government.”

Andhra Pradesh government is engaged in minority appeasement

The continued dominance of Christian missionaries in Andhra Pradesh is not hidden from anyone. With the help of the government, the missionaries have been indiscriminately converting Hindus to Christianity. As reported by the TFI

•Jagan Mohan reddy increased the allowance for Christians wishing to visit Jerusalem and other places revered in Bible.

•Reportedly, Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation issued tickets to travelers from Tirupati to the temple town of Tirumala with advertisements.

•In its 2019 budget, the Reddy government increased the salary of Imams and pastors, allotting a total outlay of Rs 2,106 crores for minority welfare.

Minority appeasement has been a grave concern for the practitioners of Sanatan Dharma in the country. The government needs to tighten its noose around the ever-expanding scope of pseudo-secularism, as it is slowly killing the fundamental idea of tolerance and mutual existence.
