China has an unmatched tendency to create fake replicas. From manufacturing cheap products to copying industrial policies, almost everything which is fake and cheap has direct links with China. And now, interestingly, it is time for the world to witness a new form of Islam, that is, Chinese Islam. However, as the name suggests, Chinese Islam’s features are a rare amalgamation of China’s policies and Islam’s beliefs.
A Chinese copy of Islam is in the making:
Reportedly, China has been refurbishing mosques in the country, by removal of Islamic features to make them appear more Chinese. The process is currently operational as a part of the “sinicisation” campaign carried out in Xining, the capital of Qinghai province in China. Qinghai province is considered as the home to Hui Muslims, who consist of at least 16% of Xining’s population.
China, driven by its well-known intolerance towards Islam, is running “sinicisation” campaign to remove the remaining Islamic identity of Hui Muslims. Through this campaign, the country is now targeting Islamic architecture. Reportedly, a 700-year-old mosque in Xining has been completely renovated and its popular green and white dome accompanied by two tall minarets, has been demolished.
Under the guise of integration and national unity, China has forcefully remodelled many mosques in the province. The Arab features of the mosque including domes, minarets and Arabic calligraphy have been replaced with Chinese text and architecture.
The Weizhou grand mosque in Ningxia has also undergone a massive ‘overhaul’, with the replacement of Islamic calligraphy with Chinese text. Thanks to these incessant crackdowns, the prominent religious places for many Muslims in China have completely vanished now.
Hui Muslims are not persecuted the way Uyghurs are:
Well, the Hui Muslims, the biggest Muslim population in China, cannot protest and have to agree with every decision of the Chinese authority. Even the thought of a protest could lead to imprisonments or terms at one of the “re-education camps”.
However, the Hui Muslims are not mistreated the way Uyghurs are, as they abide by the Chinese concepts and practices, not because of choice, but because of fear – fear of brutal persecutions. The community even tries to imitate the non-Muslim Chinese people and speaks the Chinese language.
The Uyghur Muslims however, residing in the Xinjiang province, continue to be subjected to unfathomable human rights violations. Since 2018, Uyghur families in Xinjiang have to mandatorily invite government officials into their homes, provide them information about their lives and political views, and comply with political indoctrination. The Chinese administration is trying to ethnically cleanse Xinjiang, by practising the “Pair Up and Become Family” programme, which involves the country’s Han ethnic majority officers staying in Uyghur households every two months. The Chinese government describes the spies as ‘relatives’ of the monitored families, and they have to work, eat, and often share a bed with their ‘hosts’, as the Uyghurs are compulsorily made to stay with their ‘paired relatives’ day and night.
Worryingly, lakhs of Uyghur women are subjected to regular pregnancy checks, forced intrauterine devices (IUDs), involuntary sterilisation, and even unconsented abortions. IUDs and sterilisations have fallen throughout China, but have increased sharply among the Uyghurs.
Reportedly, Xinjiang has been victimized the most, under the “sinicisation” campaign. To what comes as a major shock, even the hardline Islamic countries such as Turkey and Pakistan, have turned a blind eye towards this particular Islamic community.
Last Thursday, a group of 43 UN member nations had issued a statement that said, “We thus call on China to allow immediate, meaningful and unfettered access to Xinjiang for independent observers, including the UN high commissioner for human rights.”
However, China, in response, denying allegations of human rights abuses, said, “The US and a few other countries are desperately trying to cover up their own terrible human rights record but the world sees it clearly.”.
The atrocities committed by the Chinese Communist Party on the Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang province is one of the most brutal and horrific treatment meted out to a community, since Adolf Hitler’s reign. While China is working around the clock to ensure the complete removal of Islam from their country, the left media entities (in India and across the world), which keep crying their noses off to run Muslim propaganda, have turned a blind eye towards the atrocities against Muslims in China.
Difficult to say which influence will be more evil in Chinese Islam – former or latter ? 😳🙄
I for one fully support the Chinese Government on this matter. Responsible global governments should consider something similar.
