Lissy Lakshmi formerly known as Lissy Priyadarshan was born on February 3, 1967. She is an Indian actress who has appeared primarily in Malayalam films. She was a leading Malayalam actress who gave up acting after her marriage. Two decades later she returned to acting in 2018 with the film Chal Mohan Ranga. Lissy Lakshmi is the mother of aspiring actress Kalyani Priyadarshan.

Lissy Lakshmi – divorce from Priyadarshan

Lissy met filmmaker Priyadarshan in 1984 during the shooting of her first project Odaruthammava Aalariyam. She fell in love with him and married him on December 13, 1990. The couple have two children, elder daughter Kalyani priyadarshan who also is an actress and a son Siddharth Priyadarshan. Lissy changed her name to Lissy Priyadarshan and after the divorce she prefers being called Lissy Lakshmi. She filed for divorce in Chennai Family Court on December,1 2014 and the divorce was final on September, 2016.

The couple ended their marriage after 24 years. She had her long and ugly divorce from the film’s director. In one of the high-profile breakups in the southern film industry, film producer and director Priyadarshan and the Malyalam actress, Lissy Lakshmi was shocking for many of the fans. They filed for divorce by mutual consent. Rumours that they were heading for split had been swirling for a few years, but in 2014 the couple finally called it quits, confirming their separation after 24 years of marriage.

Priyadsarshan and Lissy Lakshmi married in 1990 after a brief romance, but the marriage did not go smoothly. When we raise the issue of divorce, she asks the question with grace and dignity. “I’m not the kind of person who wears a mask and pretends to be happy when I’m not, so we decided to separate in a civilized way and file for divorce. I feel that this is the end of a long and difficult road and it is time to move on.”

Lissy Lakshmi’s career in movies

Between 1981 and 1989 Lissy Lakshmi appeared in more than 60 Malaysian films, 3 Tamil films and a single Telugu film. Lissy, who made her debut in 1982, has an impressive 93-film repertoire from Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. Lakshmi was introduced to the Tamil film by actor Kamal Hassan in his home film Vikram as his heroine.

She was not interested in studying and dropped out of her studies, it was her mother who inspired her to become an actress. Lissy Lakshmi and Priyadarshan debuted in the Malayalam film Ithiri Neram Othiri Karyam in 1982. She has been hired to play a major role in the forthcoming untitled production of Pawan Kalyan and Trivikram Srinivass with Nithin and Megha Akash. She was announced as part of the cast for the 2019 film 2 States, based on the novel by Chetan Bhagat.
