Bhupesh sent his father to jail to save him from Yogi’s wrath

Recently, for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Brahmins in UP, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Kumar Baghel, taking pre-emptive action, sent his father Nand Kumar Baghel to jail. However, after spending three nights behind bars, the latter has been released on bail from a Raipur jail on Friday evening. Thus, it is quite obvious that it is nothing but an elaborate PR stunt and strategy to save his father from Yogi’s wrath.

Earlier reported by TFI, the CM’s father had made the objectionable statements in Uttar Pradesh and it was indicated that the Yogi Adityanath administration was quickly moving against Nand Kumar. However, Bhupesh Baghel swooped in to save his father from Yogi’s wrath and sent the police machinery to Delhi to arrest his father.

Thereafter, he was presented before a Raipur court where he was sent to 15-day judicial custody. His lawyer Gajendra Sonkar subsequently moved a bail application and sought a hearing. Sonkar said, “After hearing the arguments, Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Janak Kumar Hidko granted him bail on Friday.”

Anti- Brahmin Nand Kumar Baghel

A few days ago, a section of enraged Brahmins alleged that Nand Kumar Baghel described Brahmins as “outsiders (foreigners) who should either reform or get ready to go to Volga from Ganga”. Thereafter, the community went on to file a complaint at DD Nagar Police Station in Raipur.

As per the complaint, 86-year old Baghel also asked the rural populace of India not to permit Brahmins to enter their villages. Nandkumar had added that in the future, ‘my vote but your rule’—a reference to rule by Brahmins through votes of other communities—will not be allowed to continue.

However, CM’s father has always been caught up in the controversies for anti-Brahmin statements. During Bhupesh Baghel tenure as PCC (Pradesh Congress Committee) chief before the 2018 assembly elections, Nand Kumar had also demanded the tickets not be given to Brahmins. He also wrote a book in the early 2000s that was perceived to be anti-Brahmin. Some media reports also state that Baghel targeted the caste of CM Yogi Adityanath as well.

Strategist and PR expert son- BhupeshBaghel

Bhupesh Baghel, fulfilling his duties as a son, stood by his father’s side. Right after it was indicated that the Yogi Adityanath administration was quickly acting against Nand Kumar, Baghel Junior made a strategy and jailed his father to save him from the consequences.

Despite claiming that no one is above the law and that his father will have to face the consequences for hurting the sentiments of Brahmins, Bhupes Baghel ensured the best possible treatment to Nand Kumar in police custody.

Moreover, he got his father out of the jail in three days despite the 15-day judicial custody. Thus, it can be said that the Chhattisgarh CM arrested his father to score some measly political points and save him from Yogi’s wrath and then took him out of the jail.

While Bhupesh Baghel might be assuming that he has taken the moral high ground by arresting his father and scored some measly political points, it is quite visible that the whole incident is nothing but an elaborate PR stunt.
