Rajdeep Sardesai, the quintessential face of the Lutyens media who time and again serenades the Gandhi family, eulogizes the past UPA governments, occasionally punches people and closes the gates of the parliament to stop the security forces to move in so he can continue his ‘vulture’ style of reporting has now indulged in ‘Roshogulla’ journalism.
In a video that has since gone viral on the social media platforms, Lallantop’s editor Saurabh Dwivedi in an interview with Sardesai asked him, if he had questioned West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee about the post-poll violence/pogrom orchestrated by her TMC goons against the BJP and other party workers.
Rajdeep true to his ‘Durbari’ credentials remarked, “I was not there to take her interview. I went there casually on ‘chai pe charcha’. However, I can assure if I had gone for the interview, I would have asked the question. However, had I asked her about the post-poll violence I would not have gotten to eat Roshogullas”.

After hearing his asinine statement, Dwivedi remarked “What would journalists do eating Roshogullas from political leaders?” to which a disappointed Sardesai started lamenting his pain, “They only give one”
Rajdeep Sardesai further mentions that the WB CM told him that most of the violence that took place in West Bengal happened in the time period between her victory and her oath-taking ceremony.
Reported by TFI, Mamata had landed in New Delhi during the ongoing Monsoon session to court the left-liberal media institutions and lobby for her political future. She had met several opposition political leaders and had laid the work for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, she also met the few, chosen journalists who rather than posing tough questions and speaking ‘truth to power’ as they claim to do so, were busy posing for the shutterbugs and clicking photos.

Mamata had remarked that the blood lust slogan of ‘Khela Hobe’ will be used across the country and yet none of the reporters dared question her. She had proudly remarked, “Poore desh mein khela hoga (The game will be played across the country).”

Rajdeep Sardesai is not a newbie to controversies. Earlier this year, India Today had taken Sardesai off the air for two weeks after his misreporting on a violent agitator’s death during the tractor rally went viral. Sardesai had gone on a rampage on Republic Day, alleging that the farmer who died during the violence at ITO was, in fact, shot by the Delhi Police – an unsubstantiated claim made with no evidence to back it, propounded by the very people who were causing anarchy to spill onto the streets of Delhi in the first place.
The Delhi Police soon released the footage of the incident, which was followed by another tweet from Rajdeep Sardesai where he was forced to admit that the protestors were caught red-handed lying.
Rajdeep has made his entire living batting for his political masters and thus hoping that he would have asked the questions, had he got the chance to interview Mamata is as believable as Santa riding a chariot of reindeers and coming down a chimney on Christmas to gift some presents to an unsuspecting child.
