Pakistan only wants to massacre Hindus in Afghanistan

Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani

Taliban has reached the brink of taking political power in Kabul on Sunday, as the U.S. rushed to leave the country after it toppled the militant regime. President Ashraf Ghani’s departure and the quick evacuation of troops from the U.S. Embassy, has led the US-backed Afghan regime to collapse at an unprecedented speed.

Amidst the scenario, an old video of a Pakistani ‘intellectual’, Zaid Hamid, is going viral on social media. In the video, Hamid is spouting hatred against Hindus in Afghanistan and calling for slaughtering them, during a panel discussion on a renowned Pakistani news channel.

In the video, Zaid Hamid is openly stating that he prays to Allah for the US forces to leave Afghanistan, but Indians to stay. He says that it has been a long time since they have slaughtered Hindus in Afghanistan.

Zaid also stated that the mountains of Afghanistan are called the Hindu Kush because Hindus have been slaughtered there repeatedly in the past. Additionally, he says that he hopes ‘Baniyas’ is abandoned in the country so that they can scare them to an extent that they do not even look at Afghanistan and Pakistan for the next thousand years.

Witnessing the horrid persecution minorities in the country have to suffer every day, the above video does not come out as a surprise. There are too many instances of Hindus, as well as Sikhs being slaughtered in Pakistan. As reported by TFI, An eight-year-old Hindu boy was charged under the highly controversial matter in Pakistan for urinating on the carpet of a local Madrasa. The child could be staring at the death penalty as the country’s law warrants such a punishment.

Earlier this month, a Hindu temple in Pakistan’s Rahim Yar Khan District was vandalized by a mob. The mob in the vandalism scene smashed temple windows, doors and idols with sticks and stones. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf parliamentarian Ramesh Kumar Vankwani took to Twitter to request law enforcement agencies to arrest and punish the culprits. He tweeted, “Negligence by local police is very shameful. Chief Justice is requested to take action.”

However, Pakistan backed the Taliban- the radical Islamic terrorist organization is also ensuring the persecution of Hindus and Sikhs in Afghanistan. As per the reports by Wion, the Talibani extremists dislodged the Sikh religious flag at a historic shrine in Afghanistan’s Paktia. The shrine was visited by the Guru Nanak.

Pakistan’s backing up for the Taliban goes back to many years. It was one of the three countries to recognize the Taliban regime, from 1996 when the latter captured Afghanistan and enforced a strict interpretation of Sharia. Until being overthrown after the American-led invasion of Afghanistan in December 2001 following the September 11 attacks, the Taliban and their allies committed massacres against Afghan Hindus and Sikhs.

Pakistan’s longstanding ties with the Taliban make it obvious that it would extend support to the group after being removed from power in 2001 and became an insurgency. Thus, State sponsorship from Pakistan has been a constant throughout the 20-year US-led war.

However, India has been closely monitoring the safety and security of Hindus and Sikhs in Afghanistan as Talibani terrorists continue to persecute them. The spokesperson of the ministry of external affairs, Arindam Bagchi said India was “concerned about the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan.” “Indian embassy officials in Kabul are keeping track of these minorities. We will ensure all necessary assistance to them,” he added.

Moreover, the World Punjabi Organisation has also insisted that Union Home Minister Amit Shah evacuate 257 Afghan Hindu and Sikh families from Kabul. As reported by PTI News Agency, International President of World Punjabi Organisation, Vikramjit Singh Sahney said, “It was the need of the hour to bring the Afghan-origin Sikhs and Hindus safely to India as their lives are in grave danger.”

Not only the Indian government, but the Canadian government has also declared the permanent evacuation of 20,000 “vulnerable” Afghans, including Sikhs and Hindus, who are fleeing the war-torn country because of the deadly attack launched by the Taliban militants.

Since US and NATO forces have withdrawn from Afghanistan, India is the last hope for minorities in Afghanistan. With nowhere to go, Hindus and Sikhs who have witnessed persecution in Afghanistan for so long should be evacuated by the Indian government as soon as possible.
