Other than being an ex-poet, Munawwar Rana is keeping himself busy through controversies. The latest in the string of his dubious retirement is the charge of harassing the Dalits of India. The 69-year-old poet, born in Congress stronghold Rae Bareli and spent most of his life in Mamta Didi’s den Kolkata, compared Maharshi Valmiki with the Taliban, the savage Terrorist organization.
In an interview with Navbharat Times, Munawwar Rana claimed that the Taliban is not a terrorist organization. According to him, the Taliban terrorists are freedom fighters who freed their country from the clutches of America, just like Indians fought for 300 years to free India. Diverting the question about the Taliban’s violent and virulent methods of ruling, he said that we should wait for some time before judging the Taliban’s governance.
In an interview on News Nation, He then stooped down to compare the Taliban with Maharshi Valmiki, claiming that ‘Human Nature keeps changing, even Valmiki became Maharshi after the Ramayan, before that he was a dacoit’. He further added, “When you speak about Valmiki, you will have to talk about his past. In your religion, you make anyone the God. But he was a writer. Okay, so he wrote the Ramayan, but we are not in competition here.”
Based on his News Nation interview, a complaint has been registered against Munawwar Rana in Hazratganj Police station in Lucknow. The charges include IPC section 153A, 295A, and 505(1) (B) and SC/ST ATROCITIES ACT. The offences under SC/ST Act are cognizable and non-bailable. PL Bharti, a Valmiki community leader is the complainant.
Munawwar Rana has a history of creating sympathy waves for radical Islamist organizations. He had supported the beheading of French teacher Samuel Paty by Islamic terrorists. He did not spare the Ex-chief justice and compared him to a prostitute because he was the judge in Ram Mandir Judgement. On the busting of Islamist conversion racket by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-terrorist squad, Rana had trivialized the issue by giving statements like ‘ATS doesn’t know how to count beyond 4, 000.’

Even with such ridiculous history, the act of comparing Maharshi Valmiki with the Taliban is such depicts extreme hatred against Hinduism. However, Maharshi Valmiki has beautifully portrayed an event where two countries fought to protect the dignity of a woman, on the contrary, we have the Taliban terrorists, who mercilessly kill women and treat them as a “baby producing machine.”
Rana is one of those radical Islamists who hide their agendas behind the softness illustrated in the Urdu language (Remember Naseeruddin Shah character in Sarfarosh). With the Modi government at the centre and the Yogi government at the helm of affairs in Lucknow, Rana seems to have lost his composure and is now out in the open to support Islamic terrorists.
