In yet another blatant display of irrational behaviour by ‘rationality propagating liberals’, they have decided to not question the waste of money by the Tamil Nadu Government led by M K Stalin. M K Stalin has decided to build a memorial for Karunanidhi from the state exchequer.
Under rule 110 of the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly, Stalin announced that the memorial will be built on Mariana beach in Chennai. It will occupy 2.21 acres of public property on the beach, the state exchequer will have to issue Rs 39 Crore from its purse.
‘’The mausoleum will come up in 2.21 acres and will exhibit the achievements of the five-time chief minister, and his thoughts, for the future generations. The five-time chief minister played an unparalleled role in making Tamil Nadu, a leading developed state in India, by evolving massive plans, and enacting laws for the educational, scientific, socio-economic, and political upliftment of the Tamils,’’ said Stalin in the assembly. The memorial will have digital content on the life and achievement of ex DMK Supremo.
It is interesting to note that the Congress, VCK, AIADMK, MDMK, and left parties have come out in support of this memorial. The same parties and the same intellectuals who were battling against the Statue of Unity in the name of India’s Unifier-in-chief Sardar Vallabhai Patel are mum on the memorial built on the life of Karunanidhi who is mainly responsible for Anti-Hindu sentiments prevailing in the state of Tamil Nadu.
Tenth failed Karunanidhi is widely held as the man behind anti-Hindu and anti-Hindi sentiments prevailing in Tamil Nadu. Karunanidhi’s Dravidian movement has come under severe criticism from Dalit thinkers. Karunanidhi is widely known for creating hatred against the Brahmins and in turn, replacing Brahmins with other OBCs leaving Dalits outside the system.
An anthropologist and Tamil writer Tho. Paramasivan once said-“Karunanidhi (chief of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam or DMK) is wholly responsible for caste issues in this state,”. He goes on to add that Karunanidhi changed the caste issue into a vote-bank politics by sowing the seeds of Hatred in the minds of Dalits. He vindicated his statement by saying that “Dalit writers are sowing the seeds of hatred amongst people. Hatred is more powerful, it catches fire instantly. When hatred is sown, there is a sense of revenge amongst the community. Dalits are opposing non-Dalits, many times, for no reason.”
Going by Paramasivan’s opinion, it won’t be hyperbole to call Karunanidhi a divider-in-chief.
Liberal media and Lutyens lobby were horrendously critical about the statue of Unity which was being built in the memory of India’s first home minister and Unifier-in-chief Sardar Vallabhai Patel who unified about 600 princely states into India. There were a lot of hues and cry over the statue, with all fabricated criticism centred around the expense of the statue. Anyone even remotely aware of the basic mathematical calculations could easily calculate that the statue would yield many times more returns on its expenses in the next few decades.
Stunned silence on the memorial built in the name of a leader who had named districts on the lines of caste, divided Hindi and non-Hindi speakers, and created divided Hindu demography in the state yet again shows how liberals pick and choose their agendas. Their criticism is never about the issue, it’s always about the person. Once they have decided the enemy, his/her every action is wrong, once they have chosen someone as their favourites, they can literally do anything and go Scott-free.
