Two years have passed since Sushma Swaraj left the world yet her presence can be felt among the parliamentarians. She was a parliamentarian par excellence and her contribution as a foreign minister had overshadowed the rest of her achievements. She built her reputation in a male-dominated party and with a motherly demeanour, she ensured help for Indians abroad as well as foreigners who wished for medical visas and other forms of assistance from her ministry.

However, the opposition and the left-liberal media have touched a new low by using the demise of Sushma Swaraj as a prop to run their propaganda against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In an article titled, “Sushma Swaraj: An Able Politician Whose Abilities Were Stifled” published by The Quint, the website has claimed that her tenure as the minister was spent largely on Twitter replying to voters’ complaints about the ministry services.

The article, which was written by Shashi Tharoor, also referred to Swaraj as an over-enthusiastic advocate of making the Bhagavad Gita as India’s ‘Rashtriya Granth’. In addition to that, the portal has also claimed that Prime Minister Modi ran foreign policy himself in a highly personalized manner with the assistance of his Foreign Secretary, whom he later appointed as external affairs minister.

The article also claims Swaraj as a fervent advocate of parliamentary disruption. To quote an excerpt from the article, “Asked about the losses to the national exchequer from the disruption of Parliament, which was wasting crores of taxpayers’ rupee, she averred, “when Parliament ends this way, there is criticism—we are told that there is a loss since the Parliament wasn’t allowed to function…By losing Rs 10-20 crore from loss of Parliament proceedings, if we can build pressure on the government, then that is acceptable.”

This is how the left-liberals are mourning the death of Sushma Swaraj who was the first female Chief Minister of Delhi and had held ministerial offices in every BJP government since 1996.

However, it is not the first instance where the left-liberals as well as the anti-Modi leaders in their blind hatred towards PM Modi and the government, have tried to run propaganda out of Sushma Swaraj’s demise.

Earlier this year, Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin, created controversy for despicable and disrespecting comments on Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley. He gave a statement in which he alleged that former Union ministers Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley died due to “torture” and “pressure” exerted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Miffed by the statement, Sushma Swaraj’s daughter Bansuri Swaraj hit back saying, “Udhayanidhi ji please do not use my mother’s memory for your poll propaganda! Your statements are false! PM Narendra Modi ji bestowed utmost respect and honour on my mother. In our darkest hour PM and party [BJP] stood by us rock solid! Your statement has hurt us @mkstalin @BJP4India.”

She further added that Udhayanidhi should not use her mother’s memory for his election propaganda.

In a nutshell, the propaganda portals and the leftist leaders, by touching a new low every passing day, are exhibiting their credibility among the people. When there is a need for the opposition as well as the left portals to work towards cleaning their own image, they are busy digging holes for themselves only.
