The infighting between Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and newly appointed Punjab Congress President (PCC) Navjot Singh Sidhu had barely died down. But the outgoing PCC President Sunil Jakhar had other ideas. In his last hurrah, he took apart Sidhu, called out senior Congress functionaries for their unilateral decision and most importantly exposed the state CM for charging the farmers and sending them to the borders of Delhi to protest in the farmer’s agitation.
During the inauguration ceremony of Sidhu, Jakhar took the dais and mentioned that if it wasn’t for CM Amarinder Singh, the farmer populace would have started protesting against the state government.
“The whole of Punjab came out in protest of the farm laws. At that time, if there had been any other chief minister, other than Captain Amarinder Singh, then, the protests being held against BJP today would have been against us (Punjab government and Congress). He (Amarinder Singh) handled them brilliantly and sent them there (Delhi border).” said Jakhar.

It had long been insinuated that the farmer’s protest was nothing but a face for different political parties, vested interest groups and Khalistani’s to push their agenda. Jakhar has simply revealed that Amarinder Singh brainwashed the farmers to direct their anger on the central government when the true culprit was the state administration, all along.
The protests started by the innocuous farmers was quickly hijacked by political parties and seven months down the line, the protest hotspots have become a permanent place of residence for the miscreants who have made pucca houses and other establishments in the middle of important state border routes, causing massive loss to the exchequer and disturbance to the general public.
Jakhar in a no-holds-barred mood
Jakhar was on a self-destruct spree yesterday as after exposing Amarinder, he questioned the party high command on its decision to appoint Sidhu as the Punjab Congress party leader. Jakhar claimed that he was forgotten, despite trying to restore peace between the two camps
“In Congress, it has become a tradition that if someone gets upset, then people go to their home to persuade them. But today, who did you hand over the keys to? Today, you forgot Sunil Jakhar.”
Reported extensively by TFI, the Gandhi clan went over Captain’s ahead and granted the top party position to Sidhu. And wasting no time, Sidhu on Wednesday, in an apparent show of strength, coalesced 62 of the 77 MLAs of the party at his residence and later paid obeisance at the Golden Temple.
To ensure that the promotion was not granted to Sidhu, Captain had earlier written a letter to Congress party President Sonia Gandhi and iterated that “forcibly interfering” with the working of the Punjab government could have serious implications. The letter read, “The party and the government may both have to bear the consequences of such a move,”
Even during yesterday’s public event, Captain’s body language appeared ginger and fidgety, as if he didn’t want to be there but as a loyal Congress worker was forced to attend the meet. The fissures within the party have been taped over by using a fragile band-aid at the moment but if it all continues like this, Punjab Congress might soon implode.
