Mamata picks August 16 as ‘Khela Hobe’ Day, the same day that Jinnah declared Direct Action Day against Hindus

Mamata, Khela Hobe

The announcement of celebrating “Khela Hobe Day” on 16th August, displays a tyrant in the guise of a leader, Mamata Banerjee. By choosing the day, Mamata has yet again shown her alleged anti-Hindu mentality.

The selection of the date for starting her campaign against BJP in several states has raised eyebrows, as it happens to be the exact same day when Pakistan’s founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah of the Muslim League had launched the horrific “Direct Action Day” against Hindus back in 1946.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee formally institutionalized her bloodlust poll slogan ‘Khela Hobe’ as ‘Khela Hobe Diwas’ in the state calendar.

Addressing the masses on the July 21 Martyrs’ Day rally, the Trinamool Congress Chief declared celebrating her party’s victory on the day when Hindus were massacred by the Muslims Leagues on the streets of Kolkata. She declared ‘Khela Hobe Diwas’ to be celebrated on the 16th of August, which takes us back to the Great Calcutta Killings in 1946.

The “Khela” will now happen in all states until the BJP is removed from the country, we’ll give footballs to poor children,” Trinamool Congress chief said.

BJP leader Amit Malviya while countering TMC’s plan to go national said -“Mamata Banerjee wants to hold a rally of opposition leaders in Kolkata in order to cobble up a front. She is free to do so, except that the unelected CM should realise that all non-TMC leaders, invited in Delhi, left the venue, even before she started speaking,” he said in a tweet.

Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari while bashing Mamta said that the post-poll violence in West Bengal has left behind the Calcutta killings, and the Noakhali riots of 1946, and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh said that over 12,000 violent incidents happened and 45 party workers were killed during the post poll violence which signified ‘Khela Hobe’. “In today’s scenario in West Bengal, Khela Hobe has come to symbolise a wave of terror attacks on opponents,” he further adds.

The historical relevance of Direct Action Day could be traced back to August 16, 1946. The Muslim League demanded for the partition of India and creation of the independent Muslim state of Pakistan.

On 16th August, the All India Muslim League leader Muhammad Ali Jinnah sounded a battle cry “either a divided India or a destroyed India”. After this, violent clashes erupted between Hindus and Muslims which resulted in thousands of deaths in Calcutta. The violence spread across the country, reports of riots came from Noakhali, Bihar, United Provinces (modern Uttar Pradesh), Punjab, and the North-Western Frontier Province.

It is indeed shocking that Mamata Banerjee has chosen this day to send a message to the BJP. The announcement of “Khela Hobe Diwas” on August 16 has already created a situation of panic and terror among the Hindus of West Bengal.

The victims of post-poll violence tremble for help as they have not yet recovered from the violence. History seems to be repeating as the nation remembers this horrific day of unspeakable cruelties and genocide as Mamata showcases her alleged anti-Hindu agenda.
