Kareena Kapoor Khan has received her dose of secularism as a Christian group named Alpha Omega Christian Mahasangh has filed a police complaint against her in Beed, Maharashtra, taking objection to the title of a book written by the actress. Recently, Kareena had released the book in question titled, “Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Pregnancy Bible: The ultimate manual for moms-to-be”.
Ashish Shinde, President of the Alpha Omega Christian Mahasangh alleged that the title of the book used the holy word ‘Bible’ which has hurt the religious sentiment of the Christians. He submitted the complaint at Shivaji Nagar Police Station in Beed, seeking action against the author on blasphemy charges.
Shinde has sought registration of a case under IPC section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) against the actress and the two others.
However, Shivaji Nagar Police Station in-charge Inspector Sainath Thombre informed that he had received the complaint but no FIR was filed. Stating that the book was not released in Beed, Shinde was advised to file the case in Mumbai.
“We have received the complaint but no case can be registered here as the incident has not happened here (in Beed). I have advised him to file a complaint in Mumbai.” Sainath Thombre was quoted as saying by PTI.
Kapoor had launched the book on July 9 after giving birth to her second baby in February earlier this year. She had made the announcement of her book last year on the fourth birthday of the couple’s first child Taimur Ali Khan.
“Today is the perfect day to announce my book- Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Pregnancy Bible for all you moms-to-be. I’ll talk about everything from morning sickness to diet and fitness and being a mom-on-the-go! I can’t wait for you to read it. To be published by Juggernaut Books in 2021” Kareena had said.
According to the actress, the book is a personal account of what she experienced physically and emotionally through both her pregnancies. Kareena has co-authored the book with Aditi Shah Bhimjyani.
Bollywood often dubs Hindus as the most intolerant religious group in the country, however, incidents like these prove that it is the Islamists and Christian missionaries that do not allow a word to be used in any publications or media without their permission.
