Prime accused in the Loni incident, Ummed Pahalwan Idrisi, the Samajwadi Party leader has admitted that he tried to politicise the thrashing of Abdul to give it a communal spin and emerge as the one, true radical leader of the minority group, according to a report by Amar Ujala. Ummed revealed that he was preparing to contest the Municipality Chairman elections and through his fanatical image, was looking to polarise the voters. The SP leader thought that his campaign will become much easier if the incident was communalised.

The report further states that Ummed did not want to depend on any party. He had been in SP for a long time but with no significant progress in his political career, he planned to capture the attention of voters in the area on his own. Ummed told the police that he was conducting Facebook Live’s routinely regarding Loni’s affairs, hoping to make his own identity.

As reported by TFI, Ghaziabad Police had booked Pahalwan who appeared in a Facebook Live video with Saifi after the assault on June 7 and claimed that Abdul, the ‘Tabiz’ seller was beaten by miscreants who forced him to chant Jai Shri Ram slogans.

The FIR against the SP leader has been filed under IPC sections 153 A (promoting enmity), 295 A (act intended to outrage religious feelings), 504 (intentional insult), 505 (mischief) and 120B (conspiracy), and section 67 of the IT Act. After the interrogation, the police have also imposed a section of forgery in the case registered on Ummed.

The FIR stated, “The accused made an unnecessary video with the complainant and, without verifying the facts of the case, carried out religious discussions on his Facebook, which spread animosity in the community. The accused attempted to give the incident a communal colour and disturb the societal balance. This act hurt religious sentiments. The particular act presented a threat to law and order and tried to divide between Hindus and Muslim community.”

With the court sending Pahalwan to 14-day judicial custody, more layers are expected to be peeled behind the sinister conspiracy and if the SP leader was hiding the names of some political leaders who might have been pulling the strings.

The SP leader’s video was the reason the police got to know about Abdul’s assault and approached him to find details of the incident. Despite being repeatedly called to report the assault, Abdul evaded the police and when he did show up (June 14), he left the premises shortly after complaining of stomach ache.

The work done in tandem by Ummed Pahalwan and the entire left-liberal, Islamist machinery could have plunged the state into deep chaos. With the amount of vicious communal hatred and vitriol poured, the assault could have resulted in a full-blown communal riot ahead of the UP polls slated for the next year. However, fortunately, the likes of Pahalwan and their conspiracy was stopped within the tracks and UP evaded a bullet.
