‘Rohingyas are settling all over UP with fake ration cards, voter IDs,’ ADG Law and Order reveals the frightening scenario in the state

UP, Rohingyas

In a worrying development, after the Uttar Pradesh ATS nabbed two Rohingyas with forged papers hustling and bustling in Ghaziabad, it has come to light that the Rohingyas are settled across the state of Uttar Pradesh with forged Aadhar and Voter IDs, with many of them also receiving financial aid.

Last week, two Rohingyas – Noor Alam and Amir Husain, were nabbed by the Uttar Pradesh ATS in Ghaziabad with the Rohingyas in possession of forged papers. After the Rohingyas were sent to a five-day remand, the duo made some shocking revelations during their interrogation.

Reportedly, a certain vendor operating from the Khajuri Khas area in Delhi facilitated the illegal immigration and the subsequent settling of the Rohingya duo in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

According to ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar, the Rohingyas have managed to settle across UP and are armed with forged ration cards, PAN cards and voter ID cards.

According to an Aaj Tak report, the illegal migrants are being used as vote banks and are receiving financial aid for the same which must be concerning especially keeping in mind that the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are due next year and the SP and INC will spare no stone unturned to win the minority votes – their biggest vote bank.

More worryingly, the ADG Law and Order adds that Rohingyas have settled in every assembly constituency, and it is getting increasingly difficult to differentiate from the local population as the Rohingyas are in the possession of fake Aadhar, Voter IDs and other identity cards.

In fact, during the arrest of Noor Alam and Hussain, the UP ATS team recovered Rs 70,000, PAN, Aadhaar and UNHCR cards from the accused.

The duo came on the radar of the investigative agencies after they were suspected of being involved in a racket of assisting other Rohingyas to sneak into India through different channels.

GK Goswamy, the IG of Uttar Pradesh ATS, while speaking to Times of India, stated, “Initial interrogation revealed that Noor Alam and Amir Hussain were calling their counterparts to India. They used to extort money from other immigrants on the pretext of helping them in getting jobs and documents made. The duo was bringing Rohingyas to India via Bangladesh.”

As per various reports, Rohingyas are mostly employed at various slaughterhouses in Aligarh, Agra and Unnao.

The UP government must take this issue seriously and weed out the Rohingyas before the upcoming UP Assembly elections.
