Well, it seems like IMA President Dr JA Jayalal’s visceral hatred for Ayurveda is going to cost him dearly. Many IMA members are now resenting Dr Jayalal’s vitriol towards ancient medical science, and one of them actually went on to demand his resignation for the same as well.
Dr Jitendra Nagar is an esteemed diabetologist, who happens to be a member of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), currently in limelight for their current President’s vitriolic remarks against Ayurveda in the name of clamping down on Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev’s rants against allopathy.
Dr Nagar recently wrote a letter to IMA, and tweeted, “I am proud of my evidence based medical science that is ‘Allopathy’. I equally respect our great ancestral legacy of Ayurveda. But my point of concern is IMA chief, who has been propagating his vitriolic agenda of conversion. I demand his resignation till he comes out clean!”

If an IMA member has to say this, you can imagine the extent to which the hatred for Ayurveda and Sanatan Dharma is harming the image of both IMA and its members. However, Dr Nagar did not stop just at that. To further quote an extract from his letter, “How can a person sitting at the pinnacle of the IMA administration speak about illegitimate conversion? Such accusations have harmed our secular image. I appeal to the national administrators to create a committee for the investigations of the accusations as levied on Dr. John Rose Austin Jayalal.”
Dr Jayalal was extremely cross with Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev for his rants against allopathy. But in expressing his displeasure, he revealed his inbred contempt for Ayurveda and anything that is remotely Hindu / Sanatani. He shared various editorials and seminars that were critical about Ayurveda. He also praised Jesus for helping many in recovering from Corona.
For the uninitiated, Dr Jayalal is the same man who wants to use medical institutes to spread the “word of Christ” or in simple terms, propagate Christianity in medical schools, training centres and hospitals. Even recently, a legal rights body had requested the Centre to cancel IMA’s FCRA license citing the promotion of conversion under the leadership of Jayalal.
As of now, Swami Ramdev has apologised for his statements, but in their obstinate decision to teach Ramdev a lesson, IMA may see their own organization fall apart. Dr Jitendra Nagar is probably the first IMA member to openly express his displeasure against current IMA president Dr JA Jayalal’s theatrics. Otherwise, God only knows as to how many IMA members are silent, just because they are fearful of Dr Jayalal’s retribution.
