‘I wondered why he always avoided me, now it’s clear,’ Tathagata Roy exposes the damage done by Mukul Roy from within the BJP

Tathagata Roy, Mukul Roy

Was Mukul Roy a “Trojan Horse”? According to former Tripura and Meghalaya governor Tathagata Roy, the former TMC General Secretary was just that, who implanted himself within the saffron ranks, rose to the level of BJP’s national vice president, yet continued feeding critical information to Mamata Banerjee. Mukul Roy had joined the BJP in 2017 and jumped ship back to his mother party on Friday – triggering what could be a mass reverse exodus from the saffron party back to the TMC. Tathagata Roy is known to never mince his words, and this time too he seems to have hit the nail on the head.

“Clearly, Mukul Roy was a Trojan Horse. After having been welcomed into the BJP, he gained access to its all-India leaders, learned all about the party and its innermost detail, he went back and leaked everything to Mamata. But what’s done is done. Now, the big question is, did Mukul leave back Trojan Horses within this Trojan Horse?” Tathagata Roy said on Twitter a day after Mukul’s return to the TMC.

Explaining the infamous story of the Trojan Horse, Tathagata Roy said, “The Trojan Horse was a wooden horse used by the Greeks, during the Trojan War,to enter the walled city of Troy and win the war. After a fruitless 10-year siege, the Greeks at the behest of Odysseus constructed a hugewooden horse and hid a select force of men inside, including Odysseus himself. The Greeks pretended to sail away, and the Trojans pulled the horse into their city as a victory trophy. That night the Greek force crept out of the horse and opened the gates for the Greek army which had sailed back under cover of night. The Greeks entered and destroyed the city of Troy, ending the war.”

Earlier on Friday, Tathagata Roy called the TMC a “one-man party” and remarked that Mukul Roy would never be able to reclaim the status and reputation that he previously held.Mukul Roy had come to BJP from Trinamool Congress (TMC) and today returned to it. Only he can tell the reason behind this. He wanted to say something today but Mamata Banerjee ended the press conference quickly. BJP is a party that is in power at Centre with 303 MPs in Lok Sabha. BJP will not be affected in the least by Mukul Roy’s leaving the party. Roy has fled the responsibility the BJP central leadership had given him,he said.

BJP State President Dilip Ghosh, meanwhile, said, “I am not concerned about who is coming and going. BJP does not depend on Ayaa Ram Gaya Rams. There was a BJP storm in Bengal in which a lot of dust gathered on the deity’s head. Now it’s time for it to go down the drain.”
