BUSTED: Massive Islamic conversion racket that especially targeted the poor

Yogi Adityanath, conversion racket

A massive Islamic conversion racket has been busted in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, under the aegis of which over 1,500 people were converted to Islam. Noida Police has been receiving complaints regarding such a mass-conversion racket for quite some time now, and finally, on June 21, UP ATS arrested two men identified as Umar Gautam and Mufti Qazi Jehangir involved in illegal religious conversions. The Islamic conversion racket run by them – with the support of Pakistan’s ISI primarily targeted the economically weaker sections of society, women, children and the disabled.

The racketeers targeted deaf and mute children and illegally converted them to Islam. Others, the gang lured into Islam using money, jobs and marriages. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said that Umar Gautam, who is himself a convert to Islam from Hinduism, boasted to the police of having converted at least 1,000 people to Islam, luring them with marriage, money and jobs. The criminal Islamic fanatic was quoted as saying, “I converted at least 1,000 non-Muslims to Islam, marrying them all to Muslims.” He also confessed to having converted over 1,500 children at school for the deaf and mute in Noida on the pretext of employment and money.

The good times are definitely over for this gang of criminals. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the concerned agencies to invoke the stringent National Security Act (NSA) against the accused. He has also instructed to book all the accused under the Gangster Act. The state government has directed the authorities to start the process of confiscating the properties of all those who are found to be involved in the racket.

ADG Prashant Kumar also said that the ATS had been working on the intelligence inputs that some people were getting funds from the ISI and other foreign agencies for converting poor people to Islam and spreading communal enmity in the society. The outfit that they ran is named Islamic Dawah Center, having access to funds from Pakistan’s ISI and other foreign agencies, the ADG added.

A case was registered by ATS under Sections 419, 420, 295A, 505 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. According to the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Ordinance 2020, brought in by the Yogi government last year, forced conversions are non-bailable offences with up to 10 years of jail time if undertaken unlawfully, that is if “done through misrepresentation, force, undue influence, coercion, allurement, fraudulent means” or solely for marriage. The law also encompasses strict action for mass conversion, including cancellation of registration of social organisation involved in mass religious conversion.

Now that Yogi Adityanath has also asked for the culprits to be booked under the National Security and Gangster Acts, the Islamists stare at the prospect of never walking free again.
