After Panchal and Mansera episodes, BJP leadership tells states to check ideological background of individuals before appointing them

After Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh governments appointed people like Dinesh Mansera and Tushar Panchal who are staunchly against what the BJP and RSS stand for at key positions, the BJP central advisory has dispatched a verbal advisory to the BJP-ruled state governments to conduct a thorough background check before appointing anyone.

In a verbal advisory, the central leadership of the BJP advised the party-ruled state governments to always conduct a thorough background check of an individual before appointing the said individual to a key government post. The background check would involve verifying the individual’s political opinions and previous actions related to the government as well as the party. Additionally, social media accounts will also have to be scrutinised as a part of the background check to check their opinions about the Narendra Modi-led government, the BJP, the RSS as well as their political opponents.

Times Now quoted a senior BJP leader aware of the advisory as saying, “The state government gave an offer to an individual for a key position in the government. After facing criticism for his old social media posts, he refused to accept it. But the refusal came after the intervention of the central leadership.”

A party insider said, “Giving official positions in the government to such individuals, whose opinions against the Prime Minister and the party are available on social media platforms and are known to the public, does not look good and causes huge embarrassment.”

The appointment of prominent left-winger, Hindu hater and compulsive BJP basher, Dinesh Mansera as the media advisor to Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat and his subsequent resignation after pressure from BJP supporters and well-wishers caused major embarrassment to the party.

However, as if the party had learnt nothing from the episode, Hinduphobe Tushar Panchal was also appointed as the media advisor to Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and was forced to not accept the position after a massive outrage on social media.

It is being reported that the appointment of Panchal was the tipping point for the BJP central leadership as it subsequently decided to issue a verbal advisory to party-ruled governments so as to save the party from further embarrassment. The appointment of leftists and Modi haters in key posts would certainly be disheartening for the BJP workers who are giving their blood and sweat on the ground to continuously expand its footprint. The BJP Chief Ministers must ensure that people who are ideologically and politically opposite to what BJP stands for aren’t appointed to key posts as they would be less likely to work for the betterment of the party or the respective state government.
