Manipur BJP State President Saikhom Tikendra Singh succumbed to COVID-19 on Thursday. His unfortunate demise opened the floodgates for liberals of the Northeastern state to rejoice and engage in festivities, at a time when Covid-19 is claiming lives without partiality. Despicable comments were made by liberals on social media platforms after the death of S Tikendra Singh. Among those who seemingly rejoiced the BJP leader’s demise was a journalist, Wangkhemcha Wangthoi and activist Erendro Leichombam. Liberals have time and again been seen revelling in a demented sense of sadism when BJP leaders or supporters die or come under the grasp of a fatal illness.
On his Facebook page, liberal activist Erendro Leichombam said, “The cure for Corona is not cow dung & cow urine. The cure is science & common sense. Professor ji RIP.” This was a direct attack on Hindus, not to mention a gross stereotyping of the BJP as an unscientific party of, for and by cows. The ‘journalist’ meanwhile, said something on similar lines in his local Meitei language. A rough translation of his post would read, “Cow dung cow urine didn’t work. Groundless argument. Tomorrow I will eat fish.”
As reported by the Times of India, based on complaints against both liberals lodged by BJP functionaries, Imphal police picked up both from their residences on Thursday night. At Friday’s court hearing, conducted through video conferencing, the assistant public prosecutor accused the duo of causing “enmity, hatred, ill will in order to instigate violence between different communities and classes of people in the state.” East Mojo reported, “An FIR has been lodged against the duo under section 153-A (promoting enmity between groups) and 505(b)(2) (making a statement with an intent to incite and cause mischief) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).”
As a matter of fact, Wangkhemcha Wangthoi is quite a notorious liberal. It is, therefore, no surprise that the man has been arrested for the third time. Earlier, he was arrested under charges pertaining to the National Security Act (NSA) and for “promoting enmity between different groups through a social media post.” As for the liberal activist Erendro Leichombam, he was previously arrested by Manipur police on charges of sedition over a Facebook comment last year.
The liberal duo was remanded into police custody for four days. In their defence, the lawyers argued that the complaint was made on flimsy grounds and was a politically motivated complaint. The Sangai Express reported that the counsel appearing on behalf of Erendro contended that his client is quite innocent and the offences alleged against him are all false and concocted.
The posts of the two individuals with a rather flagrant history of taking jibes on Hindus and the BJP are yet another reminder of the hatred which liberals and leftists harbour for the party and its supporters. Notwithstanding the hatred harboured by liberals for the BJP, ministers from the party are taking suo moto cognizance and helping those very people who would rather have the BJP pushed into a grave.
