A yet another alleged audiotape of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has displayed the evil side of the Trinamool Congress supremo as she allegedly attempted to play politics over dead bodies in a desperate attempt to defeat the rampant BJP which is increasingly looking likely to come to power in Bengal come May 2.

In a purported audiotape revealed by BJP’s Amit Malviya, Mamata Banerjee can be heard speaking with TMC candidate from Sitalkuchi, Partha Pratim Ray, instructing him, “A procession will be taken out with the dead bodies of those fired upon by the CRPF, and all the CRPF personnel involved will be suspended and sent behind bars after cases are filed against them through lawyers”.

In what could prove to be a new low in Indian politics, in the alleged audiotape, Mamata urged Ray to “Not hand over the dead bodies to the families”, while adding that the, “SP needs to be framed, also the IC needs to be framed.”

In the tape shared by the BJP, Mamata repeatedly urged Ray to take the help of a lawyer to file a strong case.

Reacting to the audiotape, Amit Malviya claimed, “She is heard asking her party candidate to frame the case in such a way that both the superintendent of police (of Cooch Behar) and other central forces personnel can be framed. Is this expected from a chief minister? She is trying to instil a sense of fear just for minority votes.”

Perhaps verifying the authenticity of the tape, the TMC wrote to the Election Commission accusing the BJP of illegally recording the conversation between Mamata Banerjee and Partha Pratim Ray.

The TMC delegation consisting of Yashwant Sinha, Derek O’Brien and Purnendu Basu, said, “In the said conference, it has been alleged that in the aftermath of the CISF firing incident at Sitalkuchi, Mamata Banerjee had a conversation with Partha Pratim Ray. The BJP has not only illegally recorded and/or caused it to be recorded, but also played it at the press conference out of context. The entire exercise by the BJP is an illegal act and is a direct assault on legal rights, including the Right to Privacy of Mamata Banerjee and Partha Pratim Ray.”

Earlier a purported audiotape had surfaced where Mamata Banerjee could be heard pestering a former TMC leader who had switched over to the BJP to help her win in Nandigram against mentee turned foe Suvendu Adhikari.

The TMC campaign continues to unravel and it is increasingly looking like it will be a wave election where the BJP will secure an absolute majority.
