Fake news peddler Dr Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury is back with ‘anti-vaccine’ campaign which could claim millions of lives and should be put behind bars

COVID-19, Health care, Fake News, fake propaganda

‘Covid-19 is a scamdemic, it is a fake pandemic,’ according to serial fake news peddler ‘Dr’ Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury. Roy first came into the limelight last year, with his vociferous opposition to facial masks as a means to help curtail the spread of Sars-Cov-2, the virus wreaking havoc not just in India, but across the world. The fake doctor, who does not have any sound knowledge of medical sciences, is now back to the Indian airwaves, and his baseless claims are spreading across the country at an even more alarming rate than Covid-19. ‘Dr’ Biswaroop Roy is reportedly inspired by the late social activist – Rajiv Dixit.

But sources among Dixit’s follower base emphatically told TFIPOST that Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury is in no manner associated with Rajiv Dixit’s movement. That makes Chowdhury a lone misinformation warrior, who is misleading the Indian public at large. Currently said to be in Faridabad, Haryana, the “medical activist” has been making frequent appearances for many YouTube content creators, where he is given a free pass to propagate his nonsense. Incidentally, although Chowdhury claims that Covid-19 is a myth and propaganda, he had last year claimed his “zero money, zero medicines and zero mortality” treatment, based on dietary changes, had “cured over 80 per cent of 21,000 patients of Covid and influenza-like illnesses”.

Changing goalposts from time to time, Chowdhury also claims that Covid-19 is a mere influenza-like disease, more commonly referred to as the viral flu. When asked about why an influenza-like disease is wreaking havoc across the nation and leading to deaths, Biswaroop Chowdhury claimed that the deaths are normal with the only difference being that they are reported maniacally by the mainstream media as part of an international conspiracy to make lives miserable for common people.

Nobody would have batted an eye if Biswaroop Roy chose to make a fool of himself and was a singular believer of his own fictitious theories. However, now, the man has resorted to anti-vaccine activism. What’s worse, many people seem to be resonating with his rather idiotic claims – which is why the man must be put behind bars as soon as possible. Vaccines are the most potent weapon currently available with humanity to fight Covid-19. India, particularly, cannot afford to have its fight against Covid-19 derailed at this crucial juncture due to the unscientific beliefs of one man and his equally unscientific supporters.

The mainstay of Chowdhury’s bizarre anti-vaccine activism is his belief that vaccines are a means of infecting large populations with the very virus that is causing Covid-19 in the first place. This in itself speaks volumes about how Chowdhury and basic science are poles apart from each other. Chowdhury claims that by inoculating crores of people with Covid-19 vaccines, the government is giving rise to an equal number of super spreaders, which are consequently increasing India’s Covid-19 caseload. It must be remembered that vaccine technology makes use of minute amounts of the inactivated virulent agent to trigger an induced immune response against the disease within the human body. Chowdhury, obviously not aware of such basic facts, claiming that vaccines are in fact a way of infecting people, is making a grand clown of himself.

But vaccines are not just the anti-Covid tool which the ‘doctor’ hates. In fact, Chowdhury also has a strong dislike for facial masks, which he claims inhibit people from breathing in the fresh air – making them breathe excessive carbon dioxide which can in the future lead to breathing problems.

It is about time that Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, who claims to be a doctor among many other things, is picked up and made to face the music for spreading fake news and misinformation at a time when the country is faced with an unprecedented crisis.
