‘Don’t mock Sonia and Rahul,’ Mumbai Congress workers vandalise the office of a beverage company over its advertisement

Congress, Rahul gandhi, sonia gandhi

As if having scant regard for Freedom of Expression or the strict lockdown like restrictions imposed in Mumbai, a band of Congress hooligans cum workers vandalised the office of Storia Foods as the party workers felt that the brand’s recent advertisement mocked Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

In a brazen display of vandalism, Congress workers resorted to vandalism at the office of Storia Foods in Andheri West over the brand’s recent advertisement which allegedly mocked Congress President Sonia Gandhi and MP Rahul Gandhi.

Republic TV reports that the windows of the office have been completely shattered with the tables and chairs being left disorganised. According to the visuals, the Congress workers could also be seen raising the party flag and clicking themselves inside the office, seemingly proud of themselves over their act of vandalism.

After the Mumbai Police deployed its personnel outside the Store office to prevent any further damage, the workers continued to raise slogans like ‘Mumbai Congress Zindabad’, ‘Sonia Gandhi Zindabad’ and ‘Rahul Gandhi Zindabad’.

According to the Mumbai Congress, the brand’s latest advertisement mocked Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi which is unacceptable to them as they claimed that such advertisements would not be tolerated.

It is being reported that the Mumbai Police has registered an FIR against eight Congress workers and has subsequently detained the accused. DCP Chaitanya S, spokesperson for the Mumbai Police, said, “We have taken eight men into custody and the process of registration of an FIR is on.”

Make no mistake, this wasn’t a spur of the moment act by some low ranking Congress workers. The act of vandalism was led by General Secretary of Mumbai Congress, Sachin Sawant himself who was accompanied by the workers of Youth Congress. While speaking to journalists, Sawant took full responsibility for the vandalism and he stated that the humiliation of the Congress leadership would not be tolerated.

Instead of condemning the shocking act of vandalism, the Congress leadership was busy singing the praises of its workers. Congress MLC Bhai Jagtap who is also the president of the Mumbai Congress, tweeted a celebratory video of the party workers sloganeering at Storia office as he congratulated Sawant and Youth Congress workers for their response to the humiliation of the party’s leadership.

One must not forget that Mumbai is under strict lockdown like restrictions with no one allowed to venture outside unless for essential reasons. It seems that protecting the reputations of the Gandhi family and threatening people who dare to mock Sonia and Rahul qualify to come under essential reason in the Uddhav Thackeray led Maharashtra government. You will likely not see any outrage or calls of “Democracy is in Danger” from the liberal fraternity and we all know why.
