‘Chacha Vidhayak nahi hain hamare,’ after losing the strength in his legs, Mukhtar Ansari is set to lose MLA chair

Mukhtar Ansari, Yogi Adityanath

Gangster turned Don Mukhtar Ansari, who has barely been back at Uttar Pradesh’s Banda Jail after having his fill of joy in Punjab under the Congress government, is facing a new and unpleasant reality as the Yogi Adityanath government looks all certain to cancel Ansari’s membership of the state Assembly under Article 190 of the constitution. Ansari has been an MLA from the Mau constituency for 24 years straight despite being in and out of jails for a considerable portion of the time.

UP Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna in an interview with India TV remarked that a member can indeed be stripped of the title if he/she remains absent for over 60 days.“If any member remains absent from the House for over 60 days then in that case his membership can be cancelled as per the rules. If the BJP moves a petition asking for cancellation of his membership then the government will decide on the future course of action,” said Suresh Khanna.

As reported by TFI, it has been Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s solemn vow to punish Mukhtar Ansari for his crimes that he committed at the peak of his powers while having the backing of political masters. Ansari was allegedly the main perpetrator when a stone was flung straight into the windshield of Yogi’s car while he was camping towards Azamgarh to challenge the 57-year old don which prompted the then Gorakhpur MP to plot his vengeance.

With 52 active cases on the head of Mukhtar Ansari, the Yogi administration is salivating at the prospect of keeping Ansari behind the bars for as long as possible.

The Yogi Adityanath government is simultaneously destroying Ansari’s illegal empire at a menacing pace as alleged illegal properties worth crores of rupees related to the mafia don in Lucknow, Mau and Ghazipur have been demolished by the state agencies. Earlier in July, the Ghazipur district administration had demolished a godown, built illegally on public land. The police also seized properties worth Rs 58.91 lakh of Mukhtar Ansari’s shooter BrijeshSonkar and arrested seven accomplices of his. Also, properties worth Rs. 39.80 crore has been freed from illegal possession of Ansari’s relatives and 33 weapons have been deposited in different jails so far after their licenses had been suspended.

Once touted as the Bahubali of UP, Mukhtar Ansari is currently in a wheelchair and with his MLA seat also expected to be stripped away, no one could have predicted such a sorry end for the BSP leader.
