Australian pacer and Kolkata Knight Riders fame Pat Cummins announced on Monday that he would be donating a generous amount of Aus. $50,000 to the PM Cares Fund in order to aid in India’s fight against an unforgiving surge of Covid-19 cases. He said that it is his intention to have the contribution used for ensuring that hospitals receive a constant supply of oxygen. “India is a country I’ve come to love dearly over the years and the people here are some of the warmest and kindest I’ve ever met. To know so many are suffering so much at this time saddens me greatly,” Cummins said in his post. Indian liberals, however, did not like the fact that Pat Cummins had decided to contribute to the PM Cares Fund.
Instead, they tried to lecture him on how the Fund was not transparent and accused Prime Minister Modi of using the money collected to fund the BJP’s election campaigns. In his statement, Cummins had added, “There has been quite a bit of discussion over here as to whether it is appropriate for the IPL to continue while COVID-19 infection rates remain high. I’m advised that the Indian Government is of the view that playing the IPL while the population is in lockdown provides a few hours of joy and respite each day at an otherwise difficult time for the country. As players, we are privileged to have a platform that allows us to reach millions of people that we can use for good. With that in mind, I have made a contribution to the “PM Cares Fund,” specifically to purchase oxygen supplies for India’s hospitals.”

Great gesture. But please consider donating to a more transparent and accountable mechanism, and not PM CARES. PM CARES is opaque and not fit for purpose.

Thanks Pat. U r terrific bowler & human being. Ur gesture speaks volume about you. However, please don't donate the money to PM Cares. Multiple RTI's, court cases have shown PM Cares is not transparent & is a private entity. Rather donate to hospitals & those working on ground.

Your generosity is immensely appreciated @patcummins30 But you've given it to the wrong hands. #PMCaresFund is a private, unaudited fund. It was made in the backdrop of #COVID19 but mainly used for winning elections.
Anyone contesting me come with an audited report of the same. https://t.co/oHFo04naDT

What a nice gesture. But I wish it wasn’t the unaudited PMcares fund and a genuine charity. https://t.co/uAY6I7TdMy

A vast majority of Indians, however, thanked the cricketer for his generous contribution which will go a long way in helping India fight the pandemic. Notwithstanding the opposition of braindead liberals to Cummins contributing to the PM Cares Fund, the general public of India is well aware of the fact that liberals, particularly celebrities, are good for nothing. Those who are objecting to Cummins contributing to the PM Cares Fund have in no manner themselves contributed to India’s fight against the pandemic.
Liberals, even during a raging pandemic, are overpowered by their hatred for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In their attempt to spread lies about the PM Cares Fund, such mindless Covidiots are only exposing their hollow and selfish mindset.
