Amarinder’s logic 101 – People aren’t getting vaccinated because they are angry about the farm laws

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday made some startling observations regarding the vaccination process in the state, devoid of any logic and coherence. A statement which unfortunately comes in the same dimension we are currently living in, and is not fudged even one per cent — the CM claimed that people in the state were not getting vaccinated because they were angry about the ‘revolutionary’ farm laws brought in by the Central government last year.

“People in Punjab are still not coming out in large numbers for vaccination due to the massive anger prevailing against the Government of India on the issue of farm laws. This anger is impacting the vaccination drive,” said Captain Amarinder Singh during a video conference with Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

While the CM had shrugged off his responsibilities by unloading the entire guilt on the public and the centre, an India Today report exposed the reality of the Punjab government’s lackadaisical approach in handling the rising Covid cases.

A reality check done by India Today TV on Sunday at Civil Hospital Mohali showed that the vaccination centre was shut and there were no doctors or staff to administer the vaccine. There were no beneficiaries either. Moreover, to compound the problems, the relatives of the patients were roaming around without any face masks or a protective covering.

The report further stated that in the eight worst-hit districts of Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Ludhiana, SAS Nagar, SBS Nagar, Jalandhar, Patiala and Rupnagar – there was a severe crunch of ICU beds. Despite having more than a year to prepare for the second wave, the Punjab government failed to make the requisite arrangements.

Till the reports came in last, 89 per cent of ICU beds in Ludhiana, followed by 80 per cent of ICU beds in SAS Nagar, and 70.6 per cent of ICU beds in SBS Nagar, had already been occupied.

Expecting logic from Congress leaders since the alleviation of scion Rahul Gandhi to the party forefront was a practice that most of the people had given up on. However, a leader in Amarinder Singh was still revered by many as someone having a level head on his shoulders. But the decaying mould of Congress’ intellectual bankruptcy has finally covered Captain Singh in its entirety.

The Ministry of Health inaugurated the four-day Tika Utsav starting yesterday to encourage people to take the jab, however, the Congress and opposition ruled states have already started to create an atmosphere of paranoia by claiming that vaccines will run out. Even in the face of a pandemic, the likes of Congress and their leaders have resorted to playing fickle political games.
