Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah, who was last seen in action on the field during the third Test of the recent India-England series has been busy in his personal life. The cricketer recently tied the knot with TV presenter Sanjana Ganesan in a destination wedding in Goa on March 14. However, an occasion that was being celebrated by fans suddenly turned into a hypocrisy event when photos of Bumrah’s near and dear ones celebrating the occasion with crackers went viral on social media platforms. Previously, he had urged people to ‘Say no to crackers’ during Diwali.

“Diwali celebration at home! Wishing everyone a very Happy and a prosperous Diwali! #saynotocrackers,” Bumrah had tweeted back then.

The netizens were quick to latch onto Bumrah’s duplicity and called him for not adhering to what he had preached in the past.

However, Bumrah is not the first celebrity to have been exposed for his hypocrisy. Legend of Indian cricket and a two-time world cup winning player, Yuvraj Singh was also found wanting for using firecrackers at his wedding, despite sharing video messages on Diwali, telling his followers to not burst the crackers.

The sharp netizens were quick to question his hypocrisy by sharing photos of his wedding where he and his wife Hazel were seen walking and posing amongst a plethora of fireworks.

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra who is currently plying her trade in Hollywood has been the poster-girl of hypocrisy when it has come to firecrackers and disparaging the Hindu customs.

When Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas tied the knot in 2018 in a dreamy affair at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, massive amounts of fireworks lit up the sky and Priyanka, for one didn’t seem to mind any of that.

During the time of Diwali, Priyanka Chopra took to Twitter and wrote, “Those who know me well know that I’m an asthmatic. I mean, what’s to hide? I knew that I had to control my asthma before it controlled me. As long as I’ve got my inhaler, asthma can’t stop me from achieving my goals & living a #BerokZindagi.”

But, it seems that she did not act in accordance with her message of Diwali, as the fireworks at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan lit up the whole sky.

Moreover, snapshots of Priyanka smoking a cigar on a boat with his beau Nick Jonas had also gone viral in the year 2019 with netizens perplexed as to how a person claiming to have asthma could smoke a cigarette. Apparently, Priyanka Chopra’s asthma only acts during Diwali. It makes special adjustments for her wedding, an odd cigarette here and there or any other occasion that Priyanka deems fit.

There is an entire ‘Say no to crackers’ brigade in Bollywood and cricket that loves to preach the ordinary citizens during the festivals but when it comes to implementing the same, they are found wanting. With Holi fast approaching, the usual Bollywood celebrities masquerading as water conservationist experts will soon prop up and sermonise the Hindus to not enjoy or play the festival with water. It is a given, just wait and watch. As for Bumrah, Hindus will let this incident slide, because they have always been tolerant, and India anyway needs him at his best during the World Cup year.
