Final nail in TMC’s coffin: 85-year-old Shobha Majumdar, brutally beaten by TMC goons, dies

In an unfortunate turn of events, 85-year-old Shobha Majumdar, who was allegedly attacked by Trinamool Congress (TMC) goons in February, succumbed to her injures on Monday. Purportedly, she was attacked for her crime of being the mother of a BJP worker. The attack on her became a galvanising point for the BJP and its workers who then rallied even harder in the state to ensure the downfall of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and the goons in the TMC. However, amid the polls, Shobha Majumdar’s death will act as the final nail in the coffin for Mamata’s ten-year-long rule in West Bengal.

In what highlighted the utter lawlessness in Mamata Banerjee’s West Bengal, the senior citizen was brutally attacked allegedly by TMC goons in February and after a month-long battle, she finally succumbed to her injuries. Shobha Majumdar, who was allegedly attacked by TMC workers in the North 24 Parganas district, was the mother of a BJP worker from Nimta, named Gopal Majumdar.

“I wish peace to Nimta’s old mother Shobha Majumdar’s soul. She had to sacrifice her life for her son Gopal Majumdar being in BJP. BJP will always remember her sacrifice. She was Bengal’s ‘mother’ as well as its ‘daughter’. BJP will always fight for the safety of Bengal’s mothers and daughters,” tweeted BJP President JP Nadda.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted, “Anguished over the demise of Bengal’s daughter Shova Majumdar ji, who was brutally beaten by TMC goons. The pain & wounds of her family will haunt Mamata didi for long. Bengal will fight for a violence-free tomorrow, Bengal will fight for a safer state for our sisters & mothers.”

Moreover, Union Minister Smriti Irani, while speaking to ANI, said that she will not tolerate “gunda raj” in West Bengal. She said, “TMC goons beat up an 80-year-old woman. Her fault was that her son is a BJP worker. She was beaten up with such brutality that she died. West Bengal election is the polls to bring justice to innumerable women who were raped, harassed and killed due to TMC’s “gunda raj”. People of West Bengal are warning Mamata Banerjee that Bengal will no more tolerate the “gunda raj” of TMC. Bengal will not tolerate injustice anymore.”

Gopal Majumdar, who alleged that three TMC workers attacked his house and attacked his mother in February, claimed that his mother would have lived for a few more days had she not been attacked last month. Gopal, who had earlier even lost his father, said that post the loss of his mother, he has no one left with him.

Earlier, detailing her ordeal, Shobha Majumdar, while speaking to ANI had said, “They hit me on my head and neck. They punched on my face too. I am scared. They asked me not to tell anyone about it. My whole body is in pain.”

But West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee continues to maintain that she does not know the “real cause of death”. As per a report by ABP News, she instead asked why Amit Shah was silent over the death of a woman in Uttar Pradesh, which is ruled by the BJP.

Ever since the rise of the BJP in West Bengal, an insecure Mamata Banerjee and her party TMC have allegedly deployed various tactics to dissuade the BJP workers and voters and scare them into submission. Whether such tactics have worked or not will be clear on May 2.
