Doctor or Pastor? Dr Jayalal, President of Indian Medical Association wants to propagate Christianity in hospitals and colleges

Dr Jayalal, Indian Medical Association

The Indian Medical Association (IMA), which in recent times has received much coverage for its staunch opposition to the Modi government’s Ayurveda push in India, now has a staunch Christian fanatic-like president heading it. That is not quite the problem. It is the rather brazen and proselytising views of Dr JA Jayalal that have caught the public eye recently. The IMA, for any sane individual, should be a confederation of medical practitioners in India devoid of any religious or political goals. Under Dr Jayalal, however, the body is all set to become a front organisation for ensuring the proliferation of Christianity in India.

“I deeply desire to be a living witness to God and encourage young medical students and doctors to receive Jesus as their personal savior. I aim to be a witness for God in the secular organization I serve,” Dr Jayalal said in an interview with Haggai International. Haggai International is an international body, with the aim of “redeeming and transforming” every nation through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Haggai International, in the article, has also said, “Installed as president of the Indian Medical Association last December, Dr. Jayalal sees it all as a platform to share the love of Jesus Christ.”

Effectively, the new IMA President has made no secret of the fact that the association henceforth will be used for spreading the word of gospel, and proselytising susceptible young students and medical practitioners into the fold of Christianity. Why the IMA is allowing the same to happen, and how Jayalal continues to be president of the association as of this moment are questions that are yet to be answered.

On the issue of the Modi government allowing greater breathing space to Ayurveda practitioners in India, Dr Jayalal said, “The Hindu Nationalist Government wants to destroy modern medicine saying it is ‘western medicine.’ Please keep this in your international prayers. If everything goes their way, we will not have pure modern medicine courses in India by 2030.” He added, “The government of India, because of their cultural value and traditional belief in the Hindutva, believes in a system called Ayurveda. For the last three or four years, they have tried to replace modern medicine with this. Now, starting in 2030, you will have to study this alongside Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, homeopathy, yoga, and naturopathy.”

According to the IMA President, the Modi government’s encouragement for traditional India medical practices is a move aimed at strengthening Hindutva. “This (Ayurveda, Unani, homoeopathy, yoga etc.) is also based on the Sanskrit language, which is always traditionally based on the Hindu principles. This is an indirect way for the government to introduce the language of Sanskrit and the language of Hindutva into the minds of the people,” the man said in another interview.

Medical practitioners, students, nurses, patients and all hospital staff must now be on high alert, for the IMA itself is making an unprecedented Christianity push in India. Dr Jayalal must be immediately dealt with by the law enforcing agencies, before he uses his position to lure susceptible minds.
