Rahul Gandhi is a youth leader. Only there is no youth left in him and now there is no youth to lead Congress either

Congress, Rahul Gandhi, NSUI, youth

Rahul Gandhi – the youth leader of India, who would take our country to new heights previously unimaginable to be scaled, has now been put in a tough corner. As it turns out, leave alone the youth of the nation as a whole – the Congress’ youth too is not buying the lies being sold to them by the party. In line with the same, a mammoth number of NSUI workers from Jammu have now quit the Congress and have made some explosive revelations while departing from the youth wing of the Grand Old Party.

Merely a day after Sonia Gandhi announced a new chief for NSUI in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, over 1400 members of the student organisation have quit the party. Among those who quit the NSUI are Vishal Kotwal, Senior State Vice president, Chander Kant Sharma, State general secretary and Kishore Sharma, Rahul Bhagat, Sandeep Singh Chib, and Sahil Singh Jamwal. According to a press release, the members alleged that in the Congress party, no opportunity is provided to common students and activists belonging from a non-political background.

“Party ideology and internal democracy are being overruled by some vested interests and deserving candidates are being ignored even after serving at various designations and levels within the party,” the press release read.

The NSUI members, who have now quit the organisation in bulk, also revealed that the Congress party had collected a sum of Rs. 100 from all workers on the premise of conducting internal polls for selection of leaders within the union. However, aeons have passed since such collections took place, and no polls have been conducted. Instead, officeholders were chosen by the Gandhi family. The workers accused the party of subverting internal democracy within the party by not carrying out the election but selecting the favoured candidates.

Those who resigned from the NSUI J&K unit also alleged that similar collections were conducted across states, however, no polls were conducted, leading to crores of rupees amassed landing up in the coffers of 10 Janpath in all likelihood. In Karnataka, meanwhile, where elections were conducted for the Youth Congress top ranks, massive fraud is being alleged, forcing Congress to order a re-verification of the votes.

Raksha Ramaiah, the son of Congress leader MR Seetharam, was declared Youth Congress President. He has himself now made known his apprehensions regarding the high number of voters declared invalid in the elections. He has reportedly said that while the first round of counting yielded 27,000 votes, the second round of counting on February 4, showed 47,000 votes during a recount. The re-verification now will happen on February 20 and 21, wherein candidates will be allowed to check votes and seek justification for declaring certain votes invalid.

This is perhaps the best opportunity for us to talk to Rahul Gandhi. It is time we all collectively tell the Gandhi scion that neither is there any youth left in him, nor in the Congress party. Rahul Gandhi’s plan of creating a youth IT cell sympathetic to the Congress has already proven to be a dud, and now, the quitting of NSUI members en masse tells us how the Congress is not a party of the youth by any stretch of one’s imagination.
