Much like any other mediocre plot of a substandard Bollywood film, the protesting farmers’ unions at Singhu border staged quite the act on Friday evening – calling a grand press conference where the Kisan leaders revealed what they claimed was a sinister plot of the government to throw their entire agitation out of gear on Republic Day. Expectedly, they claimed that this plot was the handiwork of various security and intelligence agencies, who were working at the behest of the Central government. The seemingly startling revelation came in the backdrop of the Modi government yesterday walking out of the talks with the protestors, saying that it had exhausted all its options.
Now, the man who was yesterday paraded on electronic and social media by the farmers’ unions as a purported ‘assassin’ deployed to have at least four senior union kisan leaders killed, has made a complete U-turn. The complete reversal of claims by the man named Yogesh comes even as a section of Indians take it upon themselves to side with the alleged farmers and claim that the Central government is willing to use violence to subvert the protests.
From claiming that he was trained by a supposed police officer (SHO of Rai Police Station) to now alleging that he was abducted by the farmers and forced to read a cosmetic speech with no truth – the ‘assassin’ named Yogesh has, in fact, worked wonders to expose the protesting kisan leaders as a bunch of hoodlums and anarchists willing to peddle lies only to hog the limelight. In the video that is now going viral, Yogesh has said he cooked up the story about plotting an attack on the farmers to save his life. He further alleged that the farmers are still holding a boy from UP in captivity.

According to India Today, Yogesh has claimed that he was beaten up and threatened by protesters. In the video, Yogesh has said the farmers apprehended three others along with him and told him that one of them has been beaten to death. After this, Yogesh allegedly told the farmers to hand him over to the police. However, the kisan leaders continued to threaten to kill him. He alleged that he was later forced to appear before the media and narrate the statement he was asked to give.
Less than 24 hours ago, the man, according to the script given to him by the kisan leaders, was saying that he was a part of one of the two teams deployed by the agencies to incite violence on Republic Day tractor rally and added that they have been supplied weapons. He claimed that the teams were ordered to fire on the farmers and the Delhi Police would think that the farmers are firing.
This exposes the lengths to which the kisan leaders are willing to go to have their ridiculous demand of a complete rollback of the farm reforms met by the Central government. Further, it also points towards the extreme possibility of violence breaking out of January 26 if the agitators are not evicted immediately. The press conference of yesterday was merely aimed at cautioning ordinary citizens about all that the unions are capable of.
