The only way to gain respect and influence amongst the Congress party is by bootlicking the party high command and especially the aristocratic Gandhi clan. And what better way to quickly earn the dime than by disparaging Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) even when the core concern is to target centre for the Farm bills. Rajasthan Congress leader and the former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot on Sunday while addressing a rally organised by Congress in Jaipur in support of farmers protesting against the new farm laws targeted RSS and in turn BJP by making snide remarks.
“If you talk about the welfare of farmers than that is what real nationalism is. Nationalism is not delivering phoney speeches from Nagpur wearing half-pants,” said Pilot as he referred to the RSS headquarters in Nagpur, Maharashtra in his speech.

Sachin Pilot was addressing the rally to call out the centre for passing the farm bills. However, in an attempt to woo his masters sitting in 10, Janpath, Pilot unnecessarily dragged RSS to earn his ‘pat on the back’ moment.
There is a reason why the opposition has failed to rally together when opposing the government on several contentious issues. Taking potshots at an organisation that does not contest elections nor is any threat to the survival of Congress, speaks volumes about the level of insecurity that the Congress party and a leader like Sachin Pilot have inculcated amongst themselves. Or if dissected bluntly, Pilot could simply be trying to fit in the culture of dissing RSS to earn the plaudits amongst the ranks.
The statements by Sachin Pilot comes at a crucial time when congress leader Ajay Maken devised a formula to keep the two quarrelling heavyweights (Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot) of Rajasthan Congress at bay. Reported by TFI, Maken engineered a plan according to which Sachin Pilot will shift his political ground to New Delhi, where the central Congress power resides and support the ‘about-to-be crowned Congress Prince Rahul Gandhi’.
If Rahul Gandhi becomes the President of All India Congress Committee (AICC) once again, which seems like an utmost formality at this stage — then Pilot will be gifted the post of General Secretary to oversee the development of Congress on the national level.
The said formula further states that the MLAs of the Sachin Pilot clan will be given the big party posts including the ministerial berths based on numbers in the state. At the same time, three to four ministers of the Pilot faction can also be given a spot in the PCC.

Targetting RSS and hoping to sway the voters has not worked for any opposition political party in the last six years. Belittling RSS can only tantamount to some claps and hoorahs from the Congress party officials, who already hate RSS from the very beginning of their existence.

Congress party has a miraculous tendency to turn even the sharpest of tools in the shed to a nincompoop and it looks like Pilot’s transition has begun. Another young, bright prospect of Congress has started trudging down the same route which yields nothing but misery and a bucketful of electoral defeats.
We sincerely hope that Pilot mends his ways, for we need a sane opposition that forms the bedrock of a strong democracy, don’t we?
