The controversy surrounding the anti-Hindu Amazon Prime web series Tandav has hit a crescendo as the makers have been forced to wilt under pressure and issue an unconditional apology. While the storm would have stopped here earlier, the RW on social media platforms kept the relentless pressure on which has forced the makers to implement the changes to address concerns with regards to hurting religious sentiments.
Ali Abbas Zafar, the director of Tandav, issued a statement of apology where he also remarked that the series will be making the requisite changes. “We have the utmost respect for the sentiments of the people of our country. We did not intend to hurt or offend the sentiments of any individual, caste, community, race, religion or religious beliefs or insult or outrage any institution, political party or person, living or dead.”
“The cast & crew of Tandav have made the decision to implement changes to the web series to address the concerns raised towards the same. We thank the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the guidance & support in the matter. We once again apologise if the series has unintentionally hurt anybody’s sentiments,” he added.
While Ali Abbas was issuing the apology, the cast of Tandav was busy posting memes to deride the entire movement. Kritika Kamra, known for her anti-India credentials took to the social media platform Twitter to share a meme which, if nothing, showed her insensitivity and lack of cerebral cohesion.

Therefore, one can infer that the cast of Tandav is still unfazed by the horrendous hit job it has done on the Hindus and their religious sentiments. For them, the controversy is merely a way to gain more eyeballs, gain more traction amongst the already saturated left-wing camp, and last but not least, openly mock the faith of Hindus in the guise of creative liberty.
Shalabh Mani Tripathi, Information Consultant CMO UP, in a tweet on Monday morning said that serious cases had been registered against the entire team of Tandav, and they will be arrested soon.

An FIR was lodged against Ali Abbas Zafar and Gaurav Solanki, the director and writer of Tandav at Hazratganj police station late on Sunday night. The FIR also includes the name of Amazon Prime’s India Head of Original Content Aparna Purohit, Producer Himanshu Krishna Mehra and another unnamed person.

The FIR on the cast and crew of Tandav reads: “Those named have been booked for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, makes destruction, damage, or defilement of a place of worship or an object held sacred; forgery for purpose of harming reputation, statements conducing to public mischief, with intent to threaten the unity, integrity, security or sovereignty of India, or to strike terror in the people or any section of the people.”

Tandav should serve as an example to the left-wing creative artists who are planning to churn out such malicious content in the future. And while Tandav has only been forced to make the changes, the government should be proactive and send a message that if it happens again, the entire web series and the distributor OTT platform will be barred from operating within the Indian boundaries, with immediate effect.
