The farmers protest now reveals its true colours as farmers demand release of Urban Naxals and Delhi Riots accused

Just like the Shaheen Bagh protests, the true face of the farmers’ protests is unravelling fast as anti-India elements have seemed to have hijacked the protests. After the Khalistani link destabilised the protests, now Bharati Kissan Union, Ekta (Ugrahan) has now sought the release of Urban Naxals and the Delhi Riots accused.

It seems that the farmers’ protest has taken a radical turn, where the best interest of the agitating farmers are no longer a concern and instead, the protests will be used as a platform by the left-liberal intelligentsia to propagate their nefarious agenda.

The Bhartiya Kisan Union (Ugrahan) is planning to tent up the photos of more than 20 Urban Naxals booked under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act for allegedly having links with Naxals on the occasion of Human Rights Day.

Urban Naxals like Varavara Rao, Sudha Bharadwaj, Gautam Navlakha, Vernon Gonsalves and Arun Ferreira to name a few will see their images being installed at a stage near the Tikri border.

Jhanda Singh Jethuke, senior vice-president of BKU (Ekta-Ugrahan) said, “We will celebrate International Human Rights Day at Baba Banda Singh Nagar, near Tikri border, to raise our voices for the release of intellectuals and human rights activists. Demand for the release of these prisoners has been raised constantly throughout the agitation. Modi government is running a Fascist agenda. On one hand it is promoting Adani and Ambani and on the other hand it is pushing intellectuals and activities into jail. Around two dozen activists have been booked under UAPA for Bhima Koregaon and instigating Delhi riots.”

N K Jeet, lawyer and coordinator of the BKU (Ugrahan) event, said “It has been part of our demands from the very first day to release human rights activists locked up in jails…Government has said that the farm agitation is provoked by urban Naxals, Congress and Khalistanis. Urban Naxal is an excuse to prosecute people. In Punjab, people are sandwiched between state terrorism and terrorists…Naxalism has helped tribal people claim their rights.”

For the uninitiated, Varavara Rao is a Naxal apologist who in the past has justified Naxal violence and killing of Indian security forces. In 2018, a surrendered top Maoist operative Vetti Rama has confessed about Rao’s involvement in Maoist activities. Gautam Navlakha, on the other hand, has been found by the National Investigation Agency to have links with Pakistan’s ISI.

The fact that the protestors are now demanding the release of criminals and anti-India elements is not only a travesty but also further backs the claims that the protests have been hijacked by anti-India elements.
