In a totally expected series of events, the anti-CAA cabal, provocateurs of the Delhi riots, are all set to repeat their antics and bring Delhi to the grinding halt again. The lobby is just biding its time for health restrictions over COVID-19 to ease, following which they are fully prepared to continue with their Shaheen Bagh protests and make the national capital hostage again.

The lobby, which had protested in the national capital for over 3 months, has issued a fresh warning, threatening to occupy the public spaces ones again. The anti-CAA brigade has warned of mobilising the students for their agenda and has also defended Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam, booked for conspiring to fuel the Delhi riots.

The anti-CAA protesters had a webinar two days ago to commemorate and relive what had happened last year and gauge the position of the protest now. During the webinar, they reiterated the fact that the arrests of Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam are politically motivated and are a part of the bigger conspiracy. They also decided that when everything normalises after COVID, they will go back and protests and re-occupy the spaces.

Expanding on this, Ayesha Meena, student activist from JNU said, “Even though everyone clearly knows who was behind the riots, they are putting students and activists behind bars instead of catching those who actually were involved in the execution. We were forced to move from the streets only because of the health emergency COVID-19. We will regain our spaces as soon as the restrictions are over. All the leaders are languishing in jails, from Sharjeel to Asif and Umar Khalid. All they wanted was that the movement is continued, and that will happen in the future.”

Lobbying for the release of the perpetrators by giving a communal spin to their arrests and defending the riot accused, Prashant Bhushan said, “First, they instigated (Muslims) via people like Kapil Mishra and Anurag Thakur and then they were attacked. It was mostly genocide like Gujarat, but some retaliatory action by the muslims may have happened. It is most unfortunate how the Delhi police arrested a top student and youth activists in this case. They lodged cases under UAPA and made up a story that these protests were there in order to provoke riots. That’s why, the people who were organising these protests, they were arrested one by one.”

Kavita Srivastava also said, “More than 751 FIRs were lodged- everything else was under IPC, but the worst one was UAPA- which was filed on allegations of alleged conspiracies. It was a total lie- WhatsApp groups were called the group for setting up conspiracy. Umar Khalid, who is absolutely innocent, has been in jail for 90 days. 22 people are in jail- from Devangana to Natasha to Asif to Mehran to Gulfisha. They are all innocent. These are false cases filed on allegations of conspiracy, under a law in which bail is impossible.”

The anti-CAA protesters continue to fight against the government by falsely believing that the CAA and NRC will not favour the Muslims in the country. The entire Shaheen Bagh ‘movement’ was founded on the fallacious lie that Muslims were on the verge of being disenfranchised and deported off to some alien country by a toxic combination of CAA-NRC. For more than 3 months, this lie was carried on with the tacit support of political parties, outfits and Islamist groups, which culminated into Delhi riots.

The national capital already has one protest going on, based on falsehoods and laced with anti-national elements. A non-issue has been turned into an existential crisis for farmers by certain political parties, vested interest groups and of course, separatists, which is fraught by Khalistani elements. Now, adding to this, anti-CAA cabal planning a comeback to bring Delhi to a grinding halt once again.
