“Mr Yograj Singh”, Yuvraj drops the word ‘father’ while criticising his dad’s anti-Hindu remarks

Yuvraj Singh, Yograj Singh, Punjab, Farmers' protests,

Cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who was under heavy fire after his father Yograj Singh spewed venom against Hindus, has come out and condemned his father’s comments. Importantly in his statement, he has addressed his father as ‘Mr Yograj Singh’ in what can be read as Yuvraj disowning and distancing himself from his father.

Taking a leaf out of Sunny Deol’s book, Yuvraj Singh has taken a mature stance on the Farmers’ protests as he came out solidly in support of the farmers while hoping that the farmers and the government resolve their issues through talks.

In his statement, which he released on his birthday, Yuvraj also commented on the recent controversy surrounding his father Yograj Singh’s anti-Hindu statements.

Yuvraj said, “As a proud Indian, I am indeed saddened and upset by the statements made by Mr Yograj Singh. I wish to clarify that his remarks had been made in an individual capacity and my ideologies are not the same in any manner.”

Yuvraj not only reaffirmed his allegiance to his nation India but also distanced himself from his father’s venomous comments. The fact that he addressed his father as “Mr Yograj Singh” may point to the fact that Yuvraj’s relationship with his father has not been particularly good.

Earlier this month, Yograj Singh went on a foul-mouthed rant against PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Gujaratis in particular. “These people would take a u-turn even if they swore on their mothers, sisters, and daughters,” said Yograj whilst referring to Gujaratis.

“Ye Hindu gaddar hai, sau saal mughalo ki ghulami ki” , “Inki Aurate take-take k bhaw bikti” were just some of the crass statements made by Yograj in his foul-mouthed rant.

Mentioning separatist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Yograj urged the farmers to raise another Bhindranwale amongst them. “Every person here is a ‘Jarnail.’ If you want to save Punjab, ensure that power is in your hands. If the power is in your hand, you will see a new sun rising from the land of Punjab,” he said.

Speaking to a local news channel, Yograj Singh continued to vomit his venom when he justified the statements of farmers who had made the ‘Indira thok di..’ comment in a video. When the anchor asked him about the statements made by the farmers wishing the death of PM Modi, Yograj tried to justify them by saying, “As you sow, so shall you reap.”

Singh also threatened PM Modi and said the border of Delhi is sealed. “If they open the borders and the situation comes to a clash, I challenge PM Modi to remove CRPF, BSF, Army, and Police and come alone. Then we will see how things go ahead,” he said.

He further threatened, “I want to remind you that Punjabis have conquered Delhi 18 times. It can be conquered 19th time. Don’t push us to that point. The stocks of your bullets will burnout, but the Punjabis who are ready to face the bullets will keep coming. If you shoot even a single bullet, the way Mughals were rooted out, the countdown of your government will begin.”
