All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief and Lok Sabha MP from Dhubri – Badruddin Ajmal, infamous for his anti-India rhetorics and activities has found himself in a hot soup once again as the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) found misuse of funds by six childcare institutions in Assam and Manipur, running under the aegis of “Markazul Maarif”, established by Ajmal himself. Moreover, one of the homes is suspected to have received funds from an international Turkish NGO allegedly linked to Al-Qaeda.
According to a report by TOI, during the inspection of one of the homes by NCPCR, the team found that the funds were being sent from a Turkey-based International NGO viz. IHH, which had been interrogated by the Turkish law enforcement agencies for their alleged links with Al-Qaeda. Israel and Germany are some of the few countries that have banned the terror-NGO from operating in their boundaries.
Moreover, the Child Rights Commission has found a huge discrepancy in the number of children lodged in the homes. According to Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, these homes house 1,010 children. However, the body, during the inspection discovered that there were only 778 children in the 6 houses.
“The information made available to the inspection team about the number of children residing in these homes was 778, however, as per the information made available by MP Maulana Badruddin Ajmal (who has established these DarulYatama homes) in his bio on the Lok Sabha website, these homes are housing 1,010 children. The website of Markazul Maarif also states that it is housing 1,080 children,” read the report.
“It is important to investigate this discrepancy and find out as to the status of these 300-odd children,” NCPCR said which further added “It is pertinent that the number of children must be verified who’s details must have been sent to IHH and also, verify the status of those children who are being sponsored by IHH and who’s details have been sent to IHH so as to ensure their well-being and safety,” the report states.
One of the children residing in the home informed the inspection team that he has been beaten by sticks as well. The NCPCR has now recommended the registration of FIR against those committing such a serious offence.
“Bamboo sticks were found which were used for corporal punishment to discipline children. During informal discussions with staff members, it came out that sometimes they had to employ corporal punishment to discipline particularly difficult children.”
The commission has come down heavy on Badruddin Ajmal and called for the children currently lodged in all the six homes be produced before Child Welfare Committee. The body went one step further when it suggested that the children need to shifted from the homes to a suitable institution that can look after them well.
“The safety and security of children living in these Homes are severely compromised and the Commission is unclear about the legality and intentions of this AKIKA project,” said NCPCR.

Badruddin Ajmal has previously been accused of colluding with another terror organization named PFI which orchestrated the Delhi riots, earlier this year. Maulana Ajmal’s cauldron of misdoings has filled up to the brim and it is high time that the state, as well as the Central authorities, start tightening the noose around Ajmal’s neck.
