A Congress worker went to stop INC from giving ticket to a rape accused. She was beaten black and blue

Congress, Tara Yadav

In a shocking incident which exposes the utter disdain for women within the Congress Party, one Tara Yadav, who herself is a member of the Grand Old Party, was thrashed by a mob-like group of men on Saturday for voicing her dissent over the party handing out a ticket to a man charged with rape for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh by-polls on five Assembly seats. The shocking incident, which took place in UP’s Deoria, has revealed the typical anti-women mindset of the Congress and is drawing immense flak on social media.

Tara Yadav was beaten black and blue by Congress workers in the presence of All India Congress Committee (AICC) National Secretary Sachin Naik, as she approached him to voice her concerns over the party handing out a ticket to an alleged rapist –Mukund Bhaskar Mani Tripathi from Deoria. “I was thrashed by party workers when I questioned party’s decision to give a ticket to a rapist, Mukund Bhaskar for upcoming by-polls. Now, I’m waiting for Priyanka Gandhi Ji to take action,” Tara told ANI.

This is perhaps a first in Indian politics when a woman has been thrashed by her colleagues simply for voicing her concerns regarding the Congress’ decision to give a ticket to a man charged with rape. The National Commission of Women (NCW) has taken cognizance of the incident, with Chairperson Rekha Sharma referring to the assaulters as ‘sick’ and wondering how they entered mainstream politics, while also informing that the Commission has taken note of the matter.

It must be mentioned that the incident of a woman being thrashed by Congress leaders and workers in Deoria has come to light in the backdrop of the party weaponizing the Hathras case, where a 19-year old girl was physically assaulted, which resulted in her death a fortnight later. Ever since, the Congress, led by its dynasts, has taken the lead in displaying themselves as vociferous proponents of women’s safety. For the same, Priyanka Vadra was seen hugging a lady at the victim’s house, with a cameraman missing no opportunity to take admirable shots of the scene. While the sister indulged in photo ops, the brother, who quit as National President of the Congress last year, took to slenderly falling on the roadside while on his way to Hathras, for the party to claim that their leader was ‘manhandled’ by the Uttar Pradesh Police.

However, with the assault of Tara Yadav in Deoria by intolerant Congressmen, the party has not only put on fragrant display its top-to-bottom hatred for dissent, but, has also exposed itself as a political entity where the voices of non-lineage women do not even minutely figure in the scheme of things, and that such voices are meant to be stifled – physically so, if necessary.
