While China’s keyboard warriors threaten India, Chinese defence minister begs for a meeting with Rajnath Singh

India, China

Having been humiliated during the June 15 bloody clash at the hands of the Indian Army, China is now floundering from pillar to post in order to schedule top-most level talks with India. On the intervening night of August 29-30, the Chinese PLA once again attempted a transgression at the southern bank of Pangong Tso Lake, which then resulted in the Indian side capturing close to 30 dominating heights along the already tense lakeside. India has also come out in the open and revealed that the Special Frontier Force (SFF) was involved in the operation to foil the Chinese transgression.

Witnessing intense aggressive posturing from the Indian side, China has been eager to conduct peace-talks with India. Already, the fifth Brigadier-level meet is ongoing between the two countries, four of which have in the past few days ended inconclusively. Now, it has been reported that the Chinese Defence Minister is keen to meet his Indian counterpart – Rajnath Singh in Moscow on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meet. The same has been conveyed to the Indian mission in Moscow.

Chinese Defence Minister Wei Fenghi is believed to have asked for the meeting himself, even as the Indian side rejected an offer to hold a meeting during Raksha Mantri’s previous visit to Russia, for the country’s victory day parade. As per the reports, Rajnath Singh is likely to meet Chinese defence minister.

For the Chinese side to seek a meeting with the Indian Defence Minister once again, goes on to show how India has completely turned the tables on the middle kingdom and is now in an extremely dominating position in Pangong Tso Lake, which remains the greatest friction point in the stand-off between the two Asian giants.

Meanwhile, the desperate proposal of talks from the Chinese defence minister has come at a time when the red party’s stooges like the Global Times and other state-owned media are increasingly employing their wolf-warrior tactics and attempting to fearmonger Indians on the internet. They are threatening India with dangerous repercussions if we do not tone down our aggression at the LAC.

What is befuddling, therefore, is the earnest request by Chinese defence minister to meet his counterpart. What is the urgency for such a meeting? Certainly, it is only because India is now at a vantage point and advantageous position that China is crumbling under its own fear. Now, restoration of peace along the LAC will be the least face-saver which the Chinese side can avail. For that too, they must agree at retreating to their original positions, as they were prior to the standoff in May.

The Indian Army and SFF occupying dominating positions along the Pangong Tso Lake have changed the dynamics on the ground for China, which is now sitting duck for Indian troops. It is only imperative for China, in such a scenario, to desperately want to talk with India at the highest level, even as CCP mouthpieces indulge in jingoistic scaremongering.
