In what comes as saddening news for Bollywood’s inner hegemons, a complaint against Director and Producer Karan Johar, actors Deepika Padukone, Vicky Kaushal and others has been forwarded by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) headquarters in Delhi to the Mumbai NCB for investigation over allegedly organizing a drug party in 2019. This comes after Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President Manjinder Singh Sirsa meet DG NCB – Rakesh Asthana and registered a complaint against Karan Johar and other big Bollywood stars.

Reported by TFI earlier, the NCB is now investigating an old video from Karan Johar’s party (in October 2019) where some believed that actor Vicky Kaushal, among others, consumed drugs. Reports stated that the NCB will be summoning 25 prominent Bollywood stars, mainly from the video, for questioning. Those seen in the video included Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Arjun Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Zoya Akhtar, Ayan Mukerji, Mira Rajput, Shakun Batra, among others. Earlier, in 2019 too, Manjinder Singh Sirsa had filed a complaint with Mumbai Police regarding the same.

Sirsa has filed a complaint against Karan Johar and others seen in the party video for ‘consumption, possession and allowing premises to be used for commission of offences, cognizable in nature under chapter 4 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.’ The complaint states, “the video of the party is glaring evidence about the incident of illicit drug traffic and abuse by persons belonging to the Indian film industry.”

While speaking to Republic TV, the complainant, Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, Mumbai Police had not responded to Karan Johar house party complaint filed by me last year. There must be two reasons – one, they (Mumbai Police) are hand in glove with them and secondly, that drug is a very common thing.” He added, “Bollywood must accept that there are black sheep and they need to throw them out. Bollywood should stand with NCB. I am hopeful that the NCB investigation will bring out the big names. I won’t stop in the coming days. I’ll move to court against Mumbai Police, filing a formal complaint against Mumbai Police also.”

As for the viral video of the party hosted by Johar, the visible white content near Vicky Kaushal’s lap, his nose-rub gesture and Ayan Mukerji hiding something as the camera turns to him had all convinced netizens that drugs and illegal substances were involved in the party.

The NCB investigation is going to be a big headache for Karan Johar who had defended himself by questioning the speculators if he would put up a video if there were drugs involved. He had also said that what people assumed drugs, was in fact a reflection of light and that Vicky rubbed his nose because he was recovering from dengue. Vicky Kaushal to his defence had said that Johar’s mother was present with them just five minutes prior to the video being recorded.

Rhea Chakraborty’s involvement in the alleged consumption and procurement of drugs as per NCB ‘s findings has landed her in jail, and it seems a large chunk of film stars are all set to follow her lead. The latest complaint by Manjinder Singh Sirsa and the NCB’s swift action on the same has come as a nightmare for many of those who are a part of Bollywood’s inner cabal.
