There has been no iota of doubt in the popular public discourse that Imran Khan since assuming power in Pakistan has turned himself into a lapdog of China and now it has given a different meaning to the word altogether by becoming a PR agency of China.
In a report that might come as shocking to the rationale minded individuals, the Chinese mission in Islamabad has asked Pakistani authorities to manage negative sentiments domestically when it comes to atrocities on Uighurs Muslims which could take a toll on bilateral ties.
Pakistani media and public is starting to talk vocally about Uyghur Muslims
According to a report in WION, Pakistani authorities had submitted an internal assessment report to the Chinese consulate which was done to gauge public sentiment on atrocities against Uyghurs by the Chinese government in the restive western province of Xinjiang.
The report explicitly stated that chatter regarding the mistreatment of Uyghur Muslims was rising amongst the public of Pakistan after religious journals started talking about the issue.

The Chinese mission in Pakistan is worried about the religious sections of Pakistani society, which are considered not only staunch but uncompromising.
It sees the role of mainstream English media houses such as Dawn who have reported on China’s expanding sphere of influence also concerning.
Pakistan has already banned online publication of extremist journals Hittin. The primary cause has been that it has been very critical of Chinese influence in Pakistan and Beijing should not be seen as a well-wisher to people of the region.
Hapless Pakistan wants China to understand Islam
One might have expected that Imran ‘Niazi’ Khan would at least confront the Chinese after knowing the ground reality but all the Pakistani government did was issue an advice to the Chinese consulate to come up with Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) in Xinjiang to “better understand Islam” which will be helpful for the Chinese authorities to “understand the people’s aspirations and concerns”.
The hog washing of the plight of Uyghur Muslims by Pakistan and leaving them at the mercy of the oppressors speaks volumes of the grip Chinese have around the Pakistani’s.
Pakistan is the same country that routinely pokes India for allegedly mistreating Muslims in the country but assumes a stony silence when it comes to the plight of Uyghur Muslims.

Beijing and its PR overdrive to cover up atrocities on Uyghur Muslims
Just the way Beijing is trying to micro-manage the Uyghur issue in Pakistan, it has been actively trying to do the same on the international level.

Demographic Genocide of the Uyghur Muslims
For the uninitiated, China’s brutal crackdown on the Uyghur Muslims is gut-wrenching. In September last year, Lawyer Hamid Sabi, speaking at the UNHRC headquarters in Geneva claimed that the Chinese government is harvesting and selling organs from persecuted ethnic and religious minorities including the Uyghur Muslims, who are being persecuted at an accelerated pace.
Since the 1990s, the red authoritarian regime has repressed the Uyghur populace in the name of combating “separatism”, an excuse for attacking minorities that were not palatable to the international community at the time.
China kept denying about putting the Uyghur Muslims into inhumane concentration camps up until last year but when reports came out in the international community and its charade was all but over, the communist regime flipped.
Beijing claimed that the concentration camps were instead vocational skill retraining centres. A truly fabricated statement as evidence points otherwise.
Lakhs of Uyghur women are subjected to regular pregnancy checks, forced intrauterine devices (IUDs), involuntary sterilisation, and even unconsented abortions. IUDs and sterilisations have fallen throughout China, but have increased sharply among Uyghurs.
There is a huge decline in birth rates among Uyghur women. According to Associated Press, in 2014, over 2 lakh IUDs were inserted in Xinjiang. In a matter of four years, the number has gone up by more than 60 per cent to nearly 3,30,000 forced IUDs in the ethnic minority.
The decline in the Uyghur birth rates is going to be unmatched, and Beijing is quite literally considering the possibility of obliterating an entire ethnic community from the face of the earth. The unprecedented level of forced birth control among Uyghur Muslims has led to experts calling the Chinese actions a form of “demographic genocide.”
China has no plans to conduct any Confidence Building Measures in the Xinjiang province and if Pakistan believes that Beijing will somehow do it then Imran Khan and his hapless regime is in for a world of surprise.
Beijing considers Islam as a mental disease and if Pakistan continues to tread down this path—mollycoddling China and continuing its positive PR, then a decade down the line, it wouldn’t be a hyperbole to say that numerous Xinjiangs will have propped up around Islamabad.
