Arnab Goswami’s interview with Bihar DGP has Maharashtra govt frothing in the mouth

If there is one journalist who is mincing no words in bringing out the truth of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, it is Republic Media Network’s Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami. As a journalist, Arnab is known to relentlessly pursue a story where he believes there is a certain degree of foul play, or that the truth is being blanketed from the public. The death of Sushant Singh Rajput, which the Mumbai Police is working overtime to call a ‘suicide’, is one such case. Nevertheless, Arnab Goswami’s coverage of the case has visibly spooked the Shiv Sena-led government of Maharashtra.

Such is the scare among the fickle government of Maharashtra that NCP supremo Sharad Pawar is feeling threatened on behalf of the Shiv Sena. To the same effect, Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana now has Sanjay Raut claiming in it that the NCP supremo – Sharad Pawar dialled him, complaining about how Arnab Goswami’s pursuit of the case could hurt the CM’s image in the state, and how he felt the use of ‘abusive language’ against the Chief Minister by the journalist will not have a pleasant effect in the state.

Pawar called Sanjay Raut to put forward his irritation with Arnab Goswami for his media network’s coverage of the death of the late actor. Sharad Pawar reportedly complained to Sanjay Raut about the ‘attack’ on Uddhav Thackeray by the senior journalist, and probed as to what the government was doing to deal with the same. Raut claimed Pawar telling him that using ‘abusive language’ against Maharashtra’s CM will not send a good message across the state.

What has also rattled the government in the state of Maharashtra is Arnab Goswami’s interview with Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey, who has quite vividly described how the Mumbai Police is least bothered to cooperate with the Bihar Police team. DGP Pandey had, while speaking to Arnab Goswami, revealed that the police commissioner of Mumbai – Parambir Singh was ignoring his calls and messages. He also revealed how the Maharashtra DGP was behaving in a similar manner, and how the Maharashtra Additional Chief Secretary was not responding to communication which he received from his counterpart in Bihar.

DGP Gupteshwar Pandey also emphatically stated that there is a definite link between the death of Disha Salian and the alleged suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput. The DGP said, “There is certainly a deep link and that has to be investigated.” The Saamana editorial has meanwhile alleged that it is the BJP which is attempting to shame the Uddhav Thackeray government and has led the protest march for Sushant’s justice, via media.

Shiv Sena said that the Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey’s interview to Arnab Goswami is a “violation of the discipline of Police Force” and has been done to ‘malign Mumbai Police’s reputation’. It has said that the ‘interference’ of Bihar Police in Sushant death case was unnecessary. The Shiv Sena, meanwhile, through its mouthpiece, also declared that the death of Rajput was an “obvious suicide case”.

Even as Arnab Goswami is leading the charge in exposing the glaring fault lines of the Mumbai Police’ investigation, the authorities in Maharashtra had employed themselves to create a mountain of hurdles for Bihar Police’ team earlier, and now, are pre-empting threats from the CBI. Siddharth Pithani had appeared before the Mumbai Police, however, when it came to being questioned by Bihar Police, the man fled to Hyderabad. Bihar Police also claimed that they were told by their counterparts in Mumbai that files pertaining to Disha Salian had been ‘deleted’.

Social media, meanwhile, is flooded with messages in support of Arnab Goswami, hailing the senior journalist as a “real hero”. The late actor’s sister had tweeted in support of Goswami, and said that he was a real hero and that they all loved him.

It is evident that Arnab Goswami has scared the wits out of the present dispensation, led by the Shiv Sena, in Maharashtra. The relentless coverage by the senior journalist has visibly frustrated many, and the involvement of Bihar Police and CBI further serves as an eyesore for those who would rather be covering up the truths in the case than unearthing them.
