Much has been written about how low the Indian National Congress can stoop under the garb of petty politics. The heart-wrenching saga of how two Amethi women decided to self-immolate themselves in front of the Chief Minister’s Office in Lucknow rocked the state of Uttar Pradesh. In a fresh twist in the tale, Lucknow Police has discovered that this was a carefully planned conspiracy by Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) and Sonia Gandhi’s Indian National Congress (INC) in a desperate bid to malign the Yogi Adityanath government.
Acting as further proof that AIMIM and INC can stoop to any low, functionaries of both the parties instigated the two women to self-immolate in front of the Chief Minister’s Office, according to Lucknow Police.
In a pre-planned conspiracy, Amethi woman Safia (50) and her daughter Gudiya (28) attempted to self-immolate at the gate of Lok Bhawan at Vidhan Sabha Road in Lucknow, which according to Lucknow Police was done at the behest of local functionaries of AIMIM and INC.
The duo were instigated by AIMIM Amethi District President, Kadir Khan and former Congress spokesperson, Anoop Patel.
Lucknow Police Commissioner, Sujeet Pandey said, “It has come to light that it was done as per a criminal conspiracy in which some people played key role in instigating the women. We have registered FIR against 4 people including an MIM leader Kadir Khan & a Congress leader Anup Patel.”
He further added, “We have evidence to show that these women went to the UP Congress office and met Anoop Patel.”
Indian Express reported that a local journalist also admitted the role of Anoop Patel in instigating the two women to set themselves on fire.
In the wee hours of Friday, Safia and Gudiya attempted to self-immolate themselves with a prompt action from a security guard saving the women as he doused the fire and were subsequently rushed to a hospital. Safia is said to be in a critical condition while Gudiya is stable. “The mother has suffered 90 per cent burns and is in a serious condition. Her daughter suffered 15 per cent burns and is stable. The mother has been put on life support,” said Dr. Ashutosh Dubey, medical superintendent of Shyama Prasad Mookerji Civil Hospital.
It is believed that the duo were running from pillar to post to bring up the issue of an alleged land grab and they travelled to Lucknow to highlight their plight and resolve the dispute.
Four cops including a sub-inspector posted with Hazratganj police station have been suspended for their role in the conspiracy.
“Three policemen including the in-charge SHO of Jamo police station in Amethi have been suspended. The matter is being probed by the additional superintendent of police and action will be taken once the report comes,” said Amethi Superintendent of Police Khyati Garg.
The perpetrators of this ghastly conspiracy must be punished severely as they have put the lives of two innocent women in grave danger just to serve the propaganda of their political masters.
