Such is the anger amongst the people that despite the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic and the tense border stand-off with China which has put India on the brink of a war with China, the tragic death of Sushant Singh Rajput continues to garner the public’s outrage against Bollywood. Karan Johar and the ilk have deservedly received a huge backlash for promoting nepotism over talent. Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has also received his share of backlash as skeletons keep tumbling out of Khan’s closet.
Salman Khan’s career which was on borrowed time after various scandals like the killing of blackbucks or running over the poor people sleeping on the footpath, was successfully resurrected through efforts like the “Being Human” initiative. It seems that the death of Sushant Singh Rajput would act as the final nail in the coffin for Salman Khan’s Bollywood career.
Let’s face it, there is nothing “Human” about Salman Khan unless you are in his good books otherwise, surviving in the industry by making an enemy out of Salman is pretty much impossible. Over the years, if any actor has put in the least efforts in doing movies, it’s Salman Khan.
Salman has a camp which he dedicatedly protects and nurtures. Attempts to launch and subsequently resurrect the acting careers of his brothers Arbaaz and Sohail Khan failed as the audience saw through their lack of talent. Apart from launching his favourite star kids who worship him (Sooraj Pancholi), Salman has been busy trying to re-launch Aayush Sharma, the husband of his sister Arpita after his disastrous outing in the film ‘Loveyatri’.
Salman has been in the eye of the storm ever since Sushant’s death as people are realising that Salman is a major proponent of the rot that is eating away Bollywood.
After Sushant’s death, reports emerged that Sushant got a firing from Salman himself. This took place because Sushant allegedly misbehaved with Salman Khan’s mentee Sooraj at a party. The ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ actor also asked Sushant to stay away from Sooraj.
And that’s how Sushant came on the radar of Salman Khan. It is being reported that many of Sushant’s films were taken away because Salman had ordered the Bollywood producers to do so.
Sooraj Pancholi is the perfect mentee for Salman as Sooraj Pancholi has been in the police’s net before as his girlfriend Jiah Khan had committed suicide and called out Sooraj in her letters as the reason for her taking this extreme step. Much has been written about how Salman treated his then-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai and even abused her which he proudly said in an earlier interview. Salman destroyed Vivek Oberoi’s career after he learned that Aishwarya left him for Vivek which bruised Salman’s childish ego.
We all have grooved and cried on Arijit Singh’s songs. Such was the singer’s talent that people used to eagerly wait and search for his songs even in obscure movies. Such was the fanfare that movies used to gain prominence because of Arijit’s songs.
While he still remains the undisputed singer in Bollywood, Salman has ensured that Arijit doesn’t get the amount of work he used to get. Arijit Singh had pierced the childish ego of Salman Khan with an absent-minded statement which later led to the fallout between the two. The actor, true to his nature, started bullying Arijit and no sooner his songs were edited out from the movies.
Salman’s dislike for him started to show when Meet Brothers dropped a song recorded with Arijit from Kick. Even Pritam bailed out from using his vocal prowess for Bajrangi Bhaijaan. He apologized to Salman repeatedly, but Bhai was far from letting bygones be bygones.
Vishal Dadlani recorded a song with Arijit for Salman’s movie Sultan but at the last moment Salman rejected the song and it did not make it to the movie.
Salman has now forayed into singing as he has sung a handful of songs which are heavily auto-tuned and pathetic, to say the least, and Salman can only dream to have the talent of Arijit Singh.
Dabangg Director Abhinav Kashyap has also lashed out at Salman Khan and his family as he revealed how the family destroyed his career. We all are aware of how his initiative “Being Human” is nothing but a front for ‘sin-laundering’.
If one takes a closer look at Salman’s filmography, he’s the actor who puts in the least amount of work and gets the most amount of money. Recently, Shahrukh Khan has witnessed a downward spiral of sorts with his movies flopping, but SRK has never stopped reinventing. His latest movies, Fan and Zero, albeit flops, saw him come in a never before seen avatar, and one can see that he is genuinely trying to please his fans by coming up with something new.
Aamir on the other hand has the pressure to always be the ‘perfectionist’ and does only one film every two years. Apart from Thugs of Hindostan, Aamir has delivered not only blockbusters but films which has left a deep impact on the audience. His next film, Lal Singh Chaddha, a remake of Forrest Gump, sees Aamir in a completely new avatar and rest assured, Aamir will give his everything in the movie.
Whereas Salman, armed with a loyal fanbase, can just shake his belt in Dabangg and pocket 200 crore. It is a fact that script is always absent in any movie that Salman does. He refuses to put in any effort and continues to churn out the same old content in a new bottle with his latest release, Dabangg 3 also making merry at the box office.
His next film Radhe will also see Salman play a similar role as Dabangg and Wanted as the actor refuses to reinvent or respect his fans’ loyalty.
However, there is a silver lining, Dabangg 3 might have been a hit but it was the least loved film of the Dabangg franchise with even his fans panning the film. It is becoming increasingly difficult for his fans to defend Salman especially in the wake of Sushant’s demise as skeletons keep on tumbling out of Salman’s closet. This could very well mark the end of Salman Khan’s career.
