The death of Sushant Singh Rajput by suicide has resulted in a lot of tectonic activity in Bollywood. While some star kids with absolutely no skill sets have come out and arrogantly proclaimed themselves as proud dynasts in the industry, others have withdrawn themselves into anonymity. Karan Johar is one such person. Reports suggest that the producer has now resigned from the MAMI (Mumbai Academy of Moving Image) annual film festival. Such a drastic decision by Johar comes in the backdrop of the producer receiving massive flak on social media for being the hypocrite that he is.

Reports suggest that Karan Johar is deeply upset at the lack of support from his colleagues, at a time when he needed it the most. Apparently, valid accusations of Johar being an elitist snob who promotes only those in the industry who land from a lineage, have not gone down well with him. As a result, he has decided to step down from the MAMI Film Festival board. As a matter of fact, it has been reported that Karan is in no mood to back off from this decision, despite hectic parleys being employed by MAMI Chairperson Deepika Padukone to retain Johar.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, Karan has already sent in his resignation to the director of the annual film festival, Smriti Kiran. Mumbai Film Festival is an International film festival held in Mumbai each year. Organized by MAMI, the festival previews new films of all genres from around the world with a range of competitions and showcase categories.

Earlier, heartbroken with the lack of support from people he thought were closest to him, Karan Johar unfollowed almost every film actor on Twitter. His current following count stands at 8, and he now follows only three actors – Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan. He also only follows Narendra Modi, while the other handles belong to his production house.

Recent moves by Karan Johar indicate that the public of India has rightfully made the person realise how toxic he is, and he and his snooty cabal of elites have destroyed multiple lives. Allegedly, major production houses like Dharma Productions (owned by Karan Johar), Yash Raj Films, etc, had ‘banned’ Sushant Singh Rajput in the recent past gone by.

Karan Johar has been dealt a severe blow by the public this time. His arrogance and sense of untouchability towards outsiders had been going unfettered for far too long. It seems he has now realised the disaster of an individual he is, and is perhaps now rethinking his role in the industry.
