‘I will sue BBC if they don’t apologise,’ Subramanian Swamy takes on BBC for fake quote about Muslims

Subramanian Swamy is one of the few Indian politicians who speaks his mind out ferociously. While he has made innumerable fans for the same, many have also not missed opportunities to blatantly misquote Swamy and attribute fake intentions behind his statements, after heavily editing and taking his words out of context.

After having hammered VICE for their brazen attempts at portraying him as an anti-Muslim parliamentarian, Swamy is now all set to tear apart the BBC for its misinformation campaign. Being a monotonous news platform did not prevent the BBC from playing the edited clip of Swamy’s interview to VICE. The headline which the BBC wanted to make by playing the clip was that a BJP parliamentarian proudly saying that Muslims are not equal citizens under the Indian Constitution.

The video was recently cited by the BBC during its HARDtalk programme in a segment that had featured the BJP’s general secretary, Ram Madhav. Swamy said it is time to book the fake news specialist against Hindus, and also called the BBC a “disreputable disinformation outlet for India’s enemies”. He tweeted, “I may have sue BBC Hard Talk for using the cut and splice Pakistani footage of VICE TV to attribute to me having said : “Muslims are not equal to Hindus in the Indian Constitution”.”

The BJP leader has now demanded a public apology from the news broadcaster, pending legal proceedings. Ishkaran Singh Bhandari, Swamy’s aide, has now been tasked to deal with the BBC in a befitting manner.

As held by Swamy earlier too, the clip which has been paraded around by VICE is an edited one, with all the effects put in, making the senior BJP leader seem like a bigot. Further, the same clip was shared by Pakistan’s puppet Prime Minister, Imran Khan on Twitter as well. Coincidentally, VICE was co-founded by a Pakistani-Canadian journalist, Suroosh Alvi.

Subramanian Swamy had earlier lashed out at the United Nation’s Under Secretary General, Adama Dieng for slandering him in a press release. He had also said that he would initiate legal proceedings against the man for defamation. The statement made by the senior UN official was reportedly based on the VICE interview snippet. Dieng had said that Swamy’s statement on Indian Muslims not being equal citizens was “extremely alarming”.

Subramanian Swamy has not refrained from calling VICE a Pakistani media outlet, and with the BBC now joining the international bandwagon to defame the Indian MP, the show just got a lot more interesting. It is a well known fact that hostility with Subramanian Swamy often comes at a hefty price and takes a mental toll on the people concerned, a fact which the Gandhi’s and Vadra’s will bear testimony to.

The BBC has been having it too good for too long. Their vicious India and Hindu hatred has not been given a miss by anyone. With Subramanian Swamy now taking legal action against the Jurassic media hegemon, the BBC is sure to be taught a lesson of their lifetimes.
