Guwahati: One Rituparna Pegu gets murdered in broad daylight by Hussain Ali and family, his widow struggles in agony

Rituparna Pegu, Assam, Guwahati, Hussain Ali

In what comes as an extremely shocking development, one Rituparna Pegu, a 24-year old youth from Guwahati, Assam, was stabbed to death in broad daylight. Pegu, who was reportedly a resident of Commerce College Area, Guwahati, was stabbed at a shop in Noonmati, Guwahati. He is survived by his wife and his nine-month-old child. Pegu hailed from Assam’s Dhemaji district.

Although the official version of the incident states that Pegu was stabbed in the back, visuals of his blood-soaked body tell a different story. In a particular picture, a black cloth is tied around his neck, in order to perhaps stop the profuse bleeding. It is very likely that Pegu’s throat was slit by Hussain Ali, in what would then be a pure Islamist killing.

The killer, identified as Hussain Ali, had “stabbed” the victim over a quarrel that erupted regarding a chair. CCTV footage has captured Pegu being shoved around by the family members of Hussain Ali, before he is attacked with a knife. Pegu then collapses on the roadside, just outside the shop. The incident took place at a store called Arman Home Furnishing, situated in Noonmati area of the city.

The arrested have been identified as Dulal Ali, Ibrahim Ali, Manowara Khatun, Hussain Ali and Arman Ali. Arman Ali is the owner of the shop, while Hussain was an employee of the same. The police were able to get hold the these daylight murderers due to CCTV footage, which captured the gruesome murder of Rituparna Pegu.

A case under the case number 294/20 has been registered against the five accused with the Noonmati Police Station under section 147/148/149/302 of the IPC, Northeast Now reported.  Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has meanwhile announced a CID investigation in the case.

Only last month, one Sanatan Deka was mob-lynched in Assam’s Hojo by Faizul and Laizul Ali after Deka’s bicycle accidentally hit the bike of the murderous individuals. Subsequently, Shabir Ali, Yusub Ali and Firzahan Ali joined the mob, and lynched Deka to death.

Assam BJP leader Suranjann Dutta has announced that he would be taking responsibility of Rituparna Pegu’s nine-month-old son, Geri Pegu.

Both these daylight killings have not evoked any response from the usually ever-outraged coterie of liberals, who have turned a blind eye to the recent killing of Hindus across the country. The media too, is least interested in covering such stories. While the nation’s intellectual class goes up in arms over the killing of a man in the United States, them not being able to utter a word of condemnation over the killing of Hindus back in their own country goes on to epitomize their character as invertebrates.
