31 members of a single family in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri continuously violated lockdown. All of them are Corona positive now

In a brazen development, at least 31 members of a single family have tested positive for COVID-19 in North Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, officials informed on Saturday.  Delhi has 76 containment zones, and a portion of Jahangirpuri was declared one after the discovery of this hilariously dangerous ‘single source’.

A woman from the ‘minority community’, living in Jahangirpuri, died on April 8th, and her coronavirus test came positive on April 10th, a senior official said. “Twenty-six of the extended family members of the woman tested positive on Friday and rest five tested positive today. All of them are asymptomatic though, and they include children,” the official was quoted as saying by PTI.

Despite lockdown guidelines, the family members kept meeting each other and visiting the home of the woman who had tested positive and eventually died.

While mainstream media has shied away from stating all the facts of the case, a well known and popular Twitter handle, @India_Policy claims that the family comprised of a man, his 2 wives, 12 daughters, 7 sons, among others.

Not only does this development serve as a clarion call for the government to bring in a legislation on the lines of a population control bill, but it is all the more reason as to why a Uniform Civil Code is the need of the hour. How can anyone have 19 children, even if from different wives? This is in direct contrast of all sane laws, although certain religious books might allow the same. Further, a couple/couple’s having a contingent of children is a huge burden on the nation’s resources.

As a matter of fact, since many of the patients from the family were asymptomatic, what is to tell us that they haven’t already spread the disease further, before being taken to the Narela isolation camp?

At least sixty-four people who had come in contact were traced and tested, and 31 tested positive altogether while rest 33 have tested negative, officials said.

Twitterati was quite amused by the fact that a single family (which can be referred to as a ‘single source’), could have children and extended members in such abundance.

Delhi has reported over 1893 COVID-19 cases so far. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also said that any relaxation was off the tables till 27th April, at least.
