Were Delhi riots planned? Umar Khalid’s speech week before Trump visit explains the timing of Delhi violence

The National Capital of India, Delhi got engulfed in violent riots on February 24 and 25. Tensions had strangely built up right ahead of US President Donald Trump’s India visit, eventually taking the shape of full-blown riots when Trump visited New Delhi.

Now, a video has surfaced in which ‘Tukde tukde’ gang activist can be heard instigating a Muslim crowd to foment violence when the United States President visits Delhi.

In a video of the incident going viral, Khalid can be heard saying, “I promise that when Donald Trump will visit India on February 24, we will show how Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government is trying to divide the country and tarnish the principles of Mahatama Gandhi… We will come out on streets in huge numbers to tell (the US President) that people of India are fighting to bring everyone together,” during a rally in Maharashtra’s Amravati on February 17.

Tweeting the incendiary video, BJP Social Media head said, “Umar Khalid, already facing sedition charges, gave a speech in Amaravati on 17 Feb, where he exhorted a largely Muslim audience to come out on streets in huge numbers when Trump arrives in India on 24th. Was the violence in Delhi planned weeks in advance by the Tukde Tukde gang?”

Journalist Ashish Singh has tweeted the entire 17-minutes long video on his handle. Throughout the video, Umar Khalid makes several provocative, misleading remarks. He can be heard justifying the Hinduphobic Shaheen Bagh agitation by inciting the Muslim gathering with imaginary claims of police brutality.

He also invoked the Ayodhya verdict and argued that Muslims didn’t revolt after the Supreme Court ruling- as if there was something to protest about it. Inciting and misleading the mob, he further claims that the Modi government brought the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to harm the Muslims. He of course didn’t mention that the CAA doesn’t even apply to Indian Muslims.

With Khalid’s speech going viral, one can now easily connect the dots. On the eve of Donald Trump’s India visit, there were communally charged anti-CAA roadblocks and agitations in Northeast Delhi in areas such as Jaffrabad, Maujpur, Chand Bagh and Khureji- later these areas became the epicentre of riots and violence.

Later, sources revealed, “The violence in some parts of Delhi appears to be orchestrated to coincide with the visit of US President Donald Trump. Delhi Police is trying its best to control the situation and is in touch with MHA. Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik is in the control room.”

As such one can gauge an unmistakable link between the agitations and roadblocks and the riots, all of which were orchestrated in one broad transaction- Donald Trump’s India visit.

During the riots, it became clear that there was meticulous planning going into the riots. Dozens of bullet injuries, the death of a Police Constable due to bullet injuries, visuals of Shahrukh firing eight rounds of bullets at Delhi Police and petrol bombs at Tahir Hussain’s house- all of them reveal the elaborate planning and preparation that went into riots.

Khalid’s speech now shows that actual preparations might have well started a week in advance. An anti-India Islamist like Khalid seems to have seen an opportunity in tarnishing the image of Hindus and India by instigating Delhi riots. His incendiary video unravels a clear chain of events that led to the Delhi riots perfectly coinciding with US President Donald Trump’s India visit.
