It is a known fact that Rahul Gandhi and politics and just not made for each other. This fact yet again came to the fore as he exchanged barbs with MoS (Finance) Anurag Thakur in the Lok Sabha as the latter took him to the cleaners over the list of wilful defaulters.
Rahul Gandhi on the floor of the Lok Sabha during the question hour asked the government to name the top 50 individuals who are wilful defaulters. Rahul alleged that the BJP government was shielding wilful defaulters connected to Yes Bank. MoS Anurag Thakur didn’t take this accusation lying down and completely obliterated Gandhi’s allegations.
Thakur fired back that if Rahul had written this question personally, then he would know that the names of all the wilful defaulters were already on the CIC website. Thakur further added there is nothing to hide in this matter and hit out at Gandhi as he claimed that Rahul was attempting to wash down the sins committed during the previous UPA regime and blame it on the current NDA government.
Shashi ji,
List of wilful defaulters is already in public domain – https://t.co/39Y6GC501K
Please enlighten Mr @RahulGandhi regarding this & Parliamentary procedure.
Your query & text of actual Q305 are different.
My LS reply (on my Twitter timeline) is based on hard facts. https://t.co/pmOiXwxmxp

Thakur said that he’s even ready to name the wilful defaulters on the floor of the house as there was absolutely nothing to hide. He further pointed out how defaulters fled to foreign shores during the UPA regime and thanks to the present government’s decision to enact the IBC and through NCLAT, the banks have recovered Rs 4,80,000 crore rupees.
‘Privileged’ Mr Gandhi disrespects Parliamentary rules, is unwilling to view publicly available information and accept hard facts I stated in Lok Sabha.
Why are you running away from the truth?

The time allotted for the question hour ended after Thakur’s blistering response and hence, Speaker Om Birla didn’t allow Rahul to ask a supplementary question. To this, Gandhi said he was hurt by the action as he felt it was the duty of the Speaker to protect his right to speak and ask a supplementary question.
“Some people consider themselves privileged. They want to be treated differently than other MPs. They want to ask questions even after the Question Hour is over… The answers to his questions were provided in writing to him but still Gandhi and other Congress members made noise because this was their intention from the beginning,” Thakur told media.
Rahul further expected that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman answer his question completely oblivious of the fact that be it Rajya Sabha or Lok Sabha, Anurag Thakur responds to all questions related to finance. Of course, it’s not Rahul’s fault that he is unaware of the details thanks to his poor attendance record in the Lok Sabha.

As Rahul unabashedly displayed his entitled self, as soon as he came out of the parliament, Rahul told media that he had asked the government to give the names of 500 biggest wilful defaulters while on the contrary, Rahul had asked the names of 50 biggest wilful defaulters on the floor of the house.

Rahul Gandhi goofed up yet again trying to attack the NDA government but proved to be incompetent. He feels a compulsion to do politics but isn’t well equipped with valid points.
