In a major jolt to the left-liberal ecosystem, their role model, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has deserted the liberal brigade.
The cold war between the liberal brigade and the Delhi CM started after pseudo-liberals like Swara Bhasker, RJ Sayema and Swati Chaturvedi posted tweets critical of the Delhi Chief Minister over the kind of violence that broke out in the National Capital on Monday.
RJ Sayema retweeted one of former AAP leader, Yogendra Yadav’s tweet and said, “And even this doesn’t solicit a reaction from the popularly elected @ArvindKejriwal. Cool.”

Fake news peddler, Abhisar Sharma tweeted, “Speak out @ArvindKejriwal. How long will you play politics and not be heard on an issue where your citizens of Delhi are targeted. Its your ‘state’. Speak up. Enough of opportunistic politics.”

Journalist, Swati Chaturvedi took hit out at Kejriwal and tweeted, “Speak out @ArvindKejriwal you are the CM of Delhi. This is not being clever it is cowardice. Support the people suffering.”

Swara Bhasker who has been once of the vocal CAA opponents too hit out at Kejriwal and tweeted, “This is an urgent appeal! #AamAadmiParty #AamAadmiParty DO MORE than tweet !!!!”

These tweets reveal how the liberal brigade has suddenly started despising Kejriwal. And this is not very unfair on their part either. The same liberal brigade had gone into overdrive in its attempts to prop up Kejriwal.
The anti-CAA lobby and liberal brigade had worked overtime in its attempts to portray Kejriwal as the tallest leader in India. They had eulogised the AAP supremo as someone even more popular than PM Modi. It was because of their intense marketing and PR campaign that AAP was able to sail through in Delhi.
Today, when anti-CAA violence took a grip of Delhi and the insidious elements behind such violence got exposed, the liberal brigade wanted Kejriwal to stand firmly behind them.
However, Kejriwal has simply deserted the liberals and their anti-CAA lobby. Signs were clear even before the Delhi Assembly polls when Kejriwal had recited the Hanuman Chalisa during a television interview. This was in response to a question which probed him over whether he visited Hanuman temples or not. He had also dumped the Shaheen Bagh protesters in the run-up to the poll campaign.

However, this might have been dismissed as a poll gimmick and soft Hindutva by the liberal brigade. They would have been of the belief that once he storms to power, he will eventually come out in their support.
However, the support of the liberal brigade was mere political expediency and convenience for Kejriwal and AAP. Now, Kejriwal has mercilessly blocked all such Twitter users who were being critical of him. Swara Bhasker, Abhisar Sharma and RJ Sayema- all of them have been blocked by the Delhi Chief Minister. Kejriwal never followed Swati Chaturvedi though and thus there was no question of blocking her.

This is by far the biggest casualty for the liberal brigade. They had created an icon for themselves in the form of Kejriwal whom they wanted to pitch against PM Modi and someone who furthers their narrative of “saffron terrorism”, but the Delhi CM has given them a cold shoulder when they were desperate for his support. Kejriwal has thus ditched them by unfollowing all those who exhorted him to do more about the violence that got unleashed in Delhi on Monday.
